If VH1 was still airing The Best Week Ever, one could make a case for Drake skating on a 104 count winning streak. Seriously, the guy can’t lose. Going two years without an official album, Aubrey has moved the needle more with Soundcloud singles than most artists can with a full fledged album rollout. What’s even better? The guy has his own Jordans and with the 2016 NBA All-Star Game in Toronto you better bet there’s gonna be more.
Truth be told, what Drake and Jordan Brand have coming next year could prove even more watch worthy than Kanye and adidas. Between being the hottest artist in hip-hop — perhaps all of music– and having access to the Air Jordan catalog and a growing OVO apparel presence, the partnership holds all the potential in the world. Stamping an owl and a gold accented colorway on any AJ alone might not be enough, but Drake making history in said sneakers in surprise fashion will.
