Vanessa Bryant Files Trademark For “KB24”

The legacy of Kobe Bryant continues on as Vanessa Bryant filed a trademark for “KB24” earlier this month which will be used to build a sports and entertainment company.

This is different from the list of trademarks that Kobe’s estate filed in March which had “Mamba,” and “Mambacita,” with the intent to use it for sneakers and apparel and the “KB24” trademark is not of that realm. The “KB24” trademark looks like it will be for TV shows, movies, podcasts, music, and memorabilia.

After retiring, Kobe focused a lot of his time and energy on his production company, Granity Studios which earned him an Oscar for Best Animated Short Film for Dear Basketball and also lead Bryant to co-write and produce a series of young adult novels.

The exclusion of sneakers for the “KB24” trademark still leaves the legacy of Kobe’s signature sneaker line up in the air. After the news of the Bryant estate and Nike deciding to part ways left a huge question mark for the 2021-2022 NBA season. With so many Nike athletes wearing the Nike Kobe Protro line and adidas planning on bringing back the adidas Crazy 1 and the adidas Crazy 97 EQT for All-Star weekend, the licensing of Kobe’s name is huge, to say the least.
