The Nike Mag Inspires RTFKT’s Cryptokicks iRL Sneaker

RTFKT has unveiled its latest creation — the Cryptokicks iRL.

The sneaker, which was leaked months ago, is the latest development between the web3 company and Nike as the two recently partnered on an Air Force 1-inspired Clone X collection that could be minted and then later redeemed in physical form.

The RTFKT Cryptokicks iRL draws inspiration from the Nike Mag, the futuristic sneaker designed by Tinker Hatfield that made its debut in 1989 with the help of the Back to the Future 2 film. Staying true to RTFKT’s innovative spirit, the Mag homage is the perfect embodiment of the new frontier with sneakers and web3.

The RTFKT Cryptokicks iRL is designed with auto-lacing, enhanced lighting, haptic feedback, gesture control, walk detection, App connectivity, AI/ML algorithms, and wireless charging via the RTFKT Powerdeck.

Additionally, one of the Cryptokicks iRL’s main components includes a level of functionality that rewards users: Move-to-Earn.

RTFKT has teased iRL Quests (in real life) hinting at an ability to execute unprecedented Move-to-Earn mechanics to engage sneaker holders in quests and events merging physical and digital, and connect with fellow community members/iRL owners.

The RTFKT Cryptokicks iRL sneakers will come with RTFKT’s WM (World Merging) NFC Chip that allows users to authenticate each physical 1-to-1 against its digital collectible counterpart to verify legitimacy and provenance. The Cryptokicks logo and branding was designed by the legendary designer Paul Nicholson (Number #3), who designed the Aphex Twin logo.

The RTFKT Cryptokicks iRL releases in four colorways: “Blackout”; “Stone”; “Ice”; and “Space Matter.” However, the Cryptokicks iRL will be limited to 19,000 pairs, which will be decided by the collector’s choices. They will be sold as digital collectibles (NFTs) that redeem the physical counterpart in a process RTFKT calls a Forging Event.

The RTFKT Cryptokicks iRL will be available via two methods:

1.) AN RTFKT Lace Engine NFT guarantees you a chance to buy the Cryptokicks iRL in the colorway of your choice. NFT holders are allowed to purchase the sneakers between December 12-16 on RTFKT.com.

2.) Any leftover pairs from the NFT private sale will be available to the public with a draw on RTFKT.com from December 7-9, with winners having the chance to purchase on December 14.
