PUMA introduces the all-new Run XX Nitro, the brand’s first-ever women’s specific running shoe. The design was formed to fit the female-specific needs and comfort required for long lasting endurance.

The PUMA Run XX Nitro was designed in part with the University of Massachusetts Biomechanics Lab. Together, PUMA and the University launched a research study recruiting 224 runners who logged more than 36,000 miles over eight weeks. The results from the study revealed that 81% of women in the study preferred the Run XX, with the cushioning and responsiveness of the Run XX being the main factors.

“This was the first time we conducted a large-scale study on female runners and the results will help us shape our approach to women’s running shoes going forward,” said Erin Longin, General Manager of the Run/Train business unit at PUMA. “I believe this study will help us to continue to support female runners and keep them running longer.”

The sneaker gets its “XX” name from the double X chromosome DNA sequence which is the genetic code for female. The PUMA Run XX contributes to PUMA’s “Run for Her” campaign which prioritizes female runners’ needs in the design and development process.

The PUMA Run XX has an updated fit that forms to the shape of a woman’s heel, instep, and arch. The sneaker has a firmer NITRO Foam midsole that balances durability and weightlessness. For proper alignment and increased stability for longer distances, the sneaker is enhanced with Run Guide.

The PUMA Run XX Nitro drops on June 17, 2022. To purchase, visit PUMA.com, PUMA Stores, and selected retailers worldwide. The price is set at $130. For more sneaker news and release dates, follow @NiceKicks on Instagram.
