The 2018-19 NBA Season is already just over its halfway point, but PJ Tucker has already hooped in a whole year’s salary worth of heat.
Considering the range of unique pairs of shoes Tucker has pulled out so far this season — which ranges in the 70s — over the course of the first 47 regular season games of the year thus far PJ has played in over $100,000 worth of sneakers.
This ranges from starting the season in OG Nike Zoom Kobe 1s autographed by Kobe Bryant himself to luxury cut-and-sew custom Air Jordan 3s made by The Shoe Surgeon. This estimate is based on prices listed on the likes of Flight Club, StockX, Index and Stadium Goods, as well as comp prices for pairs so seldom-seen they’re unlisted.
What perhaps makes it even better is that Tucker has been physical on the court while wearing pretty shoes, doing the dirty work for the resurgent Rockets and often guarding the opposition’s best wing player. This season so far, Tucker tallies an impressive 35 minutes per game, starting in all 47 games for the Rockets at 33 years of age.
Based on last year’s Kicks On Court dominance, it doesn’t look like Tucker will slow down either. The Rockets went all the way to Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals, with Tucker playing in a total of 99 games not counting preseason. Over the course of that season, Tucker told us he bought or brought in roughly 500 pairs of shoes.
With all those kicks copped and played in, that’s not to say there still isn’t uncharted territory. PJ’s already let us in on a host of coveted pairs he’s still chasing that ranges from promo sample LeBrons to Nike Air Yeezy 1 Grammy PEs that once sold for $100,000. Heavy price tag items aside, he’s even shared with Hypebeast a list of five pairs of underrated gems from Nike Basketball we could see him pull up in.
Speaking of Nike Basketball, they’ve noticed his dedication just the same. This season, Nike gave PJ Tucker his own PE in the form of the Nike Hyperdunk X Low with his own logo on it. Tucker has already been gifted multiple Rockets-inspired colorways that he’s hooped in this season.
While Tucker is killing it on court, he’s also proven the man off of it when it comes to kicks and outfits. Just last month, the Nice Kicks Nation voted PJ as the 2018 Celebrity Sneaker Stalker MVP — making him the first celebrity that was an athlete – not a rapper or actor – to win the award.
