Custom sneakers have quickly turned into the latest and greatest in NBA Kicks On Court, and now it appears the trend is trickling down to the college hardwood. After Long Beach State’s Tyler Lamb was spotted in a “LB” Air Jordan 9 Custom, the next in line came from the Big Ten. Despite Ohio State’s struggles in the standings as of late, their footwork has been better than ever, led by Lenzelle Smith Jr.’s Air Jordan 10 Custom. Complimenting their array of Nike LeBron 11 PEs, Lenzelle’s personal pair takes the White/Varsity Red 10s from 2005 and adds grey detailing to create a one of one colorway that lines up perfectly with OSU’s unis.

College Kicks On Court: Sneaker Showdown Between Kentucky and Arkansas

Wednesday night’s matchup between Kentucky and Arkansas went into overtime and was won at the buzzer, and the sneaker competition between the two teams was just as close. Arkansas got a tip dunk with 0.2 seconds left in OT to upset UK in this week’s top SEC showdown, but both teams won in the footwear department. Kentucky finally came out of their comfort zone and laced up a wide array of Air Jordan retros and Nike Basketball models, while Arkansas continued their recent run of stellar sneakers to hold court. Although the spotlight was on the Wildcats and Razorbacks this week, a long list of other teams around the country held stride in their own right, including a College KOC regular who brought out the Nike LeBron 20-5-5.

Rutgers made its debut in the new American Athletic Conference this week with a win over Temple. Although the Scarlet Knights have struggled out of the gate, now only at .500, the team’s roster has been one of the best in the country when it comes to sneakers. Recently earning one of the best grades in our College Kicks On Court First Semester’s Top 10 Teams, Rutgers has laced a wide variety of footwear so far this season. From Retro Air Jordans, to NIKEiDs, to retro Nike Basketball models, the Scarlet Knights have kept the floor hot all season and continued their momentum in their first AAC victory. Rutgers may have had the best showing across the board, but there was a wide variety of other sneaker sightings this week around the entire country.

Last night’s 2013 Champions Classic featured four top ten schools, double digit NBA Draft picks and exclusive sneakers. Michigan State claimed the current crown for top team in the land with a win over Kentucky, and Andrew Wiggins ultimately trumped Jabari Parker to give Kansas a victory over Duke. The college basketball spotlight was rightfully focused on Chicago last night, but the sneaker spotlight shined on the entire nation. The 2013 college basketball season officially got underway over the weekend, bringing with it the return of College Kicks On Court. The opening weekend’s slate of games consisted mostly of tuneups, highlighted by a special showdown between Oregon and Georgetown on a military base in South Korea. The Ducks and Hoyas laced up “Armed Forces Classic” Jordans and Nikes for the commemorative game that matched their digi-camo uniforms. Kentucky’s anticipated freshman class got off to a roaring start on both the scoreboard and sneaker tip, while Jabari Parker and Andrew Wiggins blasted out themselves in NBA signatures. San Diego State continued their momentum from last season with new stock, kept up with by other sneaker-star teams from a year ago.
