Nicky Diamonds Talks Diamond Supply SB Dunks Release & Current Sneaker Rotation

The legendary Diamond Supply Co. x Nike SB Dunk collab is back and bigger than ever. With three new colorways of the sneaker, each going for well over $3000 a pair on the aftermarket, collectors and fashion-heads are going mad over how to secure a pair of their own.

The coveted sneakers were set to release at ComplexCon this past weekend, but ultimately did not see their first release until the Diamond Supply Co. Friends and Family event last night where the white and black colorways were sold exclusively to invited guests.

The official public release for the sneaker is happening now at the Diamond Supply Co. Pop-Up, located at 708 S. Hill St. Los Angeles — a Downtown LA Diamonds and Jewelry shop, masked with “Cash For Diamonds” adverts — where customers have been lined up across the street since 10 P.M. PST yesterday. Luckily, there will be an extra 150 pairs of the Canary Yellow SB Dunk at the pop-up space.

With all the hype around the new Diamond x Nike SB Dunk lineup, we took some time to sit down with Diamond Supply Co. founder Nicky Diamonds to talk about the release of his latest kicks and hear what his sneaker rotation is looking like these days. See Nicky Diamonds’ sneaker rotation below, in our latest My 5.

Nicky Diamonds: We were going to release the “Yellow Canary” Diamonds in Long Beach at ComplexCon — limited to 150 pairs for ComplexCon — but a riot broke out on day one, so we had to hire the Long Beach police department to come. So, we had 10 police officers at our booth for day two and we had about 50 security guards with police barriers the morning of day two, but the riots still broke out. They even started fighting with the security guards. Full riot, so we had to actually shut down. We didn’t even sell a single pair of the shoes and then we had to get the shoes police escorted out of the building.

Nicky Diamond: I really am a fan of the new material being used on the newer Jordan 1s. The fit feels as good as ever. I mean, it was always good — but something is refreshing about them and I’m a fan. I try to keep a pair of 1s in my rotation as best as I possibly can.

Nicky Diamonds: I love the yellow pair and the white pair. Those are my favorite pairs, so I’m usually wearing those. It feels good to have these made and available for people to wear and skate in.

Nicky Diamonds: Like I said, I try my best to keep a pair of Jordan 1s in my rotation. Right now, for me,it’ss the green ones that just came out and the purple ones that just came out. Those do the trick.

Nicky Diamonds: Only because they’re about to come out, that’s what I’ve been wearing the last, like, week. [Laughs] These are definitely shoes made for skating, we gave them the fat tongue and everything.
