Brother Nature is a star.
Leveraging what began as a charismatic social-media persona, Kelvin Peña has evolved and established himself as a pillar of internet popular culture, amassing an average of over 1M views per shared video.
The 20-year-old celebrity has already received co-signs from industry heavyweights like Lil Yachty, Cole Bennett, Rae Sremmurd, Luka Sabbat, Mero and more, and it would seem that the list is only expanding.
Moreover, Peña has never wasted an opportunity to air out his wardrobe in his videos, frequently rocking streetwear favorites like Bape and Off-White, backed by his closet full of Jordans.
We sat down with Kelvin “Brother Nature” Peña in Austin, Texas to talk about sneakers and catch a glimpse at which shoes Peña keeps in his rotation. Check out Brother Nature’s sneaker rotation below and be sure to read our profile interview with him releasing soon, exclusively for Nice Kicks.
Air Jordan 1 Black/Red
Brother Nature: The Breds are an all-time classic for me — they’re just so iconic. The silhouette, everything. They have just always been a go-to shoe: they can be beaters or they can be fly as hell. I already love the Jordan 1 silhouette as it is, but the black and red colorway has just always been crazy for me.
I keep the Shadow colorway around too and those definitely get a lot of play from me. But the Breds? Those are for sure.
Air Jordan 12 “Flu Game”
Brother Nature: Wow. First of all, I love the story behind the Flu Games. Not to mention, the story behind the sneakers goes to show you that if you put your mind and heart into something you can do anything. It may be difficult at times but at the end of the day you can pull it through. That’s a message that really resonates with me and I feel like when you wear them that’s just a huge nod to what Jordan has accomplished.
But the real reason why I have these in my rotation right now is because my mom had just shown me one of my old baby pictures, and I was wearing the baby size Flu Games [laughs]. So I had to get me a pair.
Off-White x Nike Collection
Brother Nature: I actually got some of these on right now [laughs]. Obviously, the entire collection goes crazy — and I mean the Nike x Off-White collection as a whole. I love what Virgil is doing. I have the Hallow’s Eve Blazers and I also have the original Chicago 1 colorway.
To be completely honest, I feel like the sneaker game is fucked up right now, because everything is so readily available these days. For instance, when I was in high school, I had all the shoes. I’m from New York originally, so when I would go back up there every summer I would get all the new shit and bring it back down to Killeen, Texas where I’d be the only one with that kind of stuff. In New York you could pay a little extra to get sneakers early, so we would do that, then bring it back down, etc. Back then, the shoes were just more limited. Now you can get anything anywhere. But the Off-Whites are limited and that’s why I really rock with this collection.
Air Jordan 11 “Cool Grey”
Brother Nature: Straight up, these shoes are crazy. They’re just so clean man and they look like art that you get to put on your feet. That shade of grey is just so fire. Unfortunately, I never owned a pair back when they were out, but I always knew that I wanted them because my big brother had them. So when I finally started making money that was one of my essential shoe purchases I would say [laughs]. They have that neutral color that you can really wear them with anything.
They’re the type of 11s you can leave unlaced and still go crazy. Like, 11s are kinda washed right now because they’ve been released so many times, but the Cool Greys are for sure one of my favorites right now.
Air Jordan 11 “Space Jam”
Brother Nature: ICONIC. Number one pair of 11s to me, I would say even ahead of the Cool Greys. So, looping back really quick, when I was in high school, I had all the shoes. Like you can ask my best friend right here [laughs] everyone knew that. But, now and even back then, the Space Jams were my grail. Everyone wanted these back in those days and if you had them you were it. They’ve just always been so fire to me. The icy bottoms go so crazy too, like those soles are so fire. The patent leather, everything.
Honestly, the Space Jams gotta be a top five Jordan of all time. Just including the history of the shoe, like with the movie and everything in mind, the Space Jams are just too iconic. I don’t know if you’re gonna keep this in your immediate rotation, but it is definitely a shoe that you can stunt in.
