Nike continues to tap into high-fashion and luxury brands as a Bode x Nike collaboration is in the works for this year.
Started in 2016 by Emily Adams Bode, the menswear brand is known for designing tops, jackets, and more by quilting fabrics and household items to create one-of-a-kind pieces that embed personal narratives, delivering a tailormade story with each piece.
In addition to collaborative apparel, the Bode x Nike collection will reportedly include two colorways of the Nike Astro Grabber — a nearly forgotten shoe from the Nike archives.
The Nike Astro Grabber was made in the late 1970s with a waffle outsole, foam tongue, and mesh upper and was first marketed as a baseball/softball performance shoe when it was released in 1977 before it became known as a football performance model for astroturf surfaces in 1979.
Since its debut in the 70s, the silhouette has yet to make a return. However, the upcoming collaborative effort could be the domino effect for the shoe’s return to the marketplace.
The Bode x Nike Astro Grabber and apparel is anticipated to release in the upcoming months, as originally reported by Complex.
