When Vans opened up shop and production in 1966, the first day they were able to create 12 shoes, all #44 which later became known as the Vans Authentic. Though they were able to make 12 shoes, the guys forgot one important part of business, change. When customers arrived later in the afternoon to pick up their new shoes that afternoon, they realized they had no change for their customers and thankfully all 12 people returned the next day to pick up their newly made Vans.
