The Nike KD 8 “Bible Servant” Appears to Be a PE

Late last year, an early look at the Nike KD 8 “Bible Servant” provided one of the more interesting colorways in the social rollout of Kevin Durant’s eighth signature sneaker. Adorned by angels on the upper, the shoe also made note of the Bible verse Matthew 11:29 on the tongue lining and in full (“Take my yolk upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls.”) on the insole.

While a slight stir has been made as to if Nike scrapped the retail release of this shoe because of the religious connotations it carries, in all likelihood they were never intended for retail release at all. The same rollout of colorway previews from KD’s IG also featured a look at a “Redskins” makeup that has yet to hit retail. The common theme? KD’s faith and his favorite football team are both very important to him so they were made as PEs for KD, also helping to add energy to the launch. In all fairness, that’s not to say that we didn’t think they could/might/would release at retail when we first saw them, but hindsight is 20/20 as Nike never issued official imagery of either colorway.
