Irregular Programming: A Look Back at British Knights Commercials

Earlier this week, we posted our exclusive interview with Dr. Romanelli and Scooter Braun discussing the revival of British Knights. Two main factors that contributed to the original success of BK were hip-hop endorsement and disruptive marketing. While hip-hop endorsements are clearly a big deal in today’s marketplace (see: Kanye to adidas and Drake to Jordan Brand), BK’s unruly brand of marketing has largely fallen by the wayside. Few sneaker companies regularly place advertisements on TV, and those that do usually focus strictly on athletics in the most serious of manners.

BK back in the day? Not so much. From Kool Moe Dee to Hammer to Derrick Coleman, get a glimpse at the brash, aggressive, suggestive and straight-up goofy British Knights commercials that made the brand a major player back in the late ’80s and early ’90s.
