The 2013 college football season is bound to be full of surprises. One of those surprises came when Nike unveiled the new Fresno State Uniform System. The Bulldogs will sport all-black uniforms for the first time in the school’s history. Black jerseys are decorated with red numbers outlined in grey trim, and the words “Fresno State” written in grey across the chest. Contrasting red numbers are present on each shoulder. Grey breathable mesh panels streak down the sides to keep players cool. The grey strip continues down the sides of the black pants for a flush look. The jewel of the new uniforms is the matte black helmet. The menacing helmets feature a red strip that leans a bit to one side, to create an asymmetrical look. The left side of the helmet is decorated with Fresno State’s Bulldog logo, and the other displays the players’ uniform number. Finally, everything is finished off with Nike football Alpha Pro cleats that compliment the color palette.
After the release of the two initial colorways, the Nike CJ81 Trainer Max looks to be hitting shelves in a more daring iteration. Silver traces the toecap, and reaches up onto the dynamic mid-foot arch strap. The silver portions feature unique designs, which, if judging from the subtle personal details present in the other colorways, pay homage to important events in Calvin Johnson’s life and career. The extended, lightweight proprioceptive collar is colored wolf grey, and outlined in navy. Orange stitching ties the lining to the ankle collar, and matches the Swoosh branding on the mid-foot strap. Common place on the CJ81, diamond star perforation on the white toe box provide both enhanced breathability and a custom fit, not to mention an eye-grabbing aesthetic. The main colors are tied together with tricolor laces.
