Nike Air Max

History of the Nike Air Max

Nike Air Max running technology allows you to walk on a bubble of air encapsulated in polyurethane. This provided an unmatched amount of comfort for any running shoe at the time. Nike debuted the Air technology in 1979 but air pillow became visible with Nike's Air Revolution in 1987. Seeing is believing, and the transparent window in the rear of the shoe proved to be a hit, the Air Max line includes some of Nike's notable staple products that include: Air Max 1, Air Max 90, Air Max 95 and others that help the brand blossom to what Nike is known for today.

Matt Stevens imagines a new way to create your own NIKEiDs as part of the “Global Air Max Arcade Initiative.” For a little April Fools’ Day fun, Stevens recreates the NIKEiD process in the fashion of a vintage video game system, designed to put in malls. In addition to that, he’s also crafted a few tees with arcade inspired artwork. Let us know if you’d like to craft your own Air Max colorways in throwback fashion in the comment section.

Nike Air Max Breathe Collection Officially Unveiled

Just a week after celebrating international Air Max Day, Nike unveils a brand new rendition of the iconic Air Max series that is built to handle the heat. The Nike Air Max Breathe Collection serves as the latest evolution in the line known for its cushioning, with redesigns of some of the most notable AM silhouettes that are more lightweight and breathable than ever. Inspired by the Brasilian lifestyle that can go from the beach to the pavement at any moment, these updated Air Max use spacer mesh uppers to create pockets of space for increased airflow. In addition, taped seams, moisture-wicking linings, elastic laces, soft heel counters, and natural motion tooling all contribute to decrease weight and insulation. The new technology is rolled out on three iconic silhouettes including the Nike Air Max 1, Air Max 90, and Air Max Breathe. Take a look at the Air Max Breathe trio below, and get in the flow when they release at Nike Sportswear accounts May 1st.
