It’s the type of shoe that defies tradition, barks back at conformity, and triumphs through innovation and strategic risk. Further, its striking yet minimal canvas is ideal for collaborative design. The first to test those waters is retail giant SSENSE.
Depicting the duality of night and day, SSENSE looks to the sky — more intimately the moon — for its inspiration. Covering the low-cut style entirely in 3M materials, the gleaming upper is representative of a full moon and its illuminating glow.
Perched atop a compartmentalized sole unit that takes from an unreleased Pump Evo Prototype from 1996, a mesh exterior joins a lace toggle at the shoe’s centermost point adding another aesthetic layer to the contemporary design.
The SSENSE x Reebok Run.r 96 will release on June 28, the next calendar date when a full moon will be at work. Pairs will be available both on ssense.com and in-store at SSENSE Montreal.
