Long before they were set to face off as starting point guards on the NBA stage, young Stephen and Seth Curry were simply two brothers battling it out in the backyard of their childhood Charlotte area home. The winner of the 1-on-1 games would get coveted “front seat privileges” to their father Dell’s black Mercedes, as the group often rode along together to Hornets games.
“Our favorite thing to do as kids was get home from school as early as we could to ride to the game with dad,” Seth told Adrian Wojnarowski on The Vertical Podcast at the start of the season.
As the Curry brothers are slated to go head-to-head for just a sixth time during their NBA careers, Under Armour is honoring those backyard battles with a special PE version of the Curry 3 for both Stephen and Seth. The shoes feature both Warriors and Mavericks varying blue shades, along with a graphic insole paying tribute to those “Shotgun!!!” honors to the 1-on-1 victor.
