Ryz Wear Sneaker Design Contest
A handful of sneaker companies have created online outlets where one can customize and personalize a shoe just for them, but the options usually dead end at color blocking and stitching your name.
Ryz Wear (”rise wear”) picks up where the others left off with a democratic twist to the concept. One can download templates, design a sneaker, publish it on the site, and if it is selected by the public (meaning all the friends you tell to vote for you) your design gets produced, you receive the kicks, $1,000 cash plus $1 for every pair sold on the site. The current contest on Ryz Wear runs until July 30th, so you still have time to enter and win. There you can also shop for previous winning designs for $90 per pair. We found many great designs, but our vote went to and creative Obama sneaker that was made from one continuous line that never intersects itself. Cast your vote! Sign up, vote, and create your sneakers at ryzwear.com. |

i agree with what everyone else is saying. the design of the shoe is butt ugly. imo, i think Vans or Converse should do a project like this.

OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT!
However…why would someone make a shoe that looks like you’re choking the laces even when they’re not tied?

Ouch! Me and my man, Pete, designed these shoes for Ryz and I got to at least explain somethings. First of all, we purporsedly did NOT bite on Chuck or AF1 because we respected sneakerheads too much (not to mention our brainwashing at Nike to be original–even if exploting a trend (; Secondly,Ryz came to life really fast and we were building shoes and a website at the same time. Therefore, the “beta phase” of the site has a computer rendered shoe for the template, not an exact model of the real shoe. Obviously, it ain’t going to be thaaaat different, but it is at least a better shaped “space boot” than it is in these images.Thirdly (and now I’m sounding way too serious), we wanted to launch with as large of a canvas as possible to design on, so our tip is shorter than most and is transparent so the graphic can be see underneath.
If you want the shoe to have more traditional design lines, vector up your pattern right on top of ours!!
We’ll get pics of finished shoes up to look at soon.
