While a majority of modern sneaker collaborations use back-stories for justification, the new Ronnie Fieg x ASICS Gel Lyte V “Rose Gold” and “Sage” let their actual aesthetics do the talking. The notable designer posted official images of the two ASICS Gel Lyte V makeups on his blog, along with a confession that he thinks sneaker “stories” dilute the true significance of the shoe. That idea inspired his two latest creations, which each use their materials as the sole backing concept. Led by the “Sage” style code that uses a detail-oriented design that includes pigskin and premium white leather in colors that RF has never used before, finished off with a faint safari print that is only visible up close. Rounding out the dynamic duo is the “Rose Gold” makeup that is inspired by a picture Fieg took of a sunrise over a mountain range on a flight, which again uses pigskin suede and a subtle scratched-detailing heel counter.
