Back in 1990, Nike released the now famous Aqua Boot. It was a high arching silhouette produced for water sports like sailing and windsurfing. But as good designs typically do, the Aqua Boot transcended its sporting origins and became a street styling staple throughout the 90’s.
Now, over 25 years after the shoe was originally released, Givenchy Creative Director, Riccardo Tisci, draws inspiration from the shoe and the Chelsea Boot to craft his upcoming NikeLab Air Zoom Legend.
Releasing in Black/Pink-Teal and Black iterations, the shoe honors both Tisci’s design inspiration from the past in the Aqua Boot and fashion staples he remains loyal to today like the Chelsea. Also sifting between inspirations, one pair is creatively fueled by basketball with a mesh upper, while its counterpart offers a more modern aesthetic with a woven Jacquard base.
Both colorways of the Riccardo Tisci x NikeLab Air Zoom Legend will release on December 8 at NikeLab retailers and online.
