Return of the Andre Agassi Air Tech Challenge
Andre Agassi wore these sneakers back in 1990 which led him to four tournament victories that year, but unfortunately he lost in the finals of the French Open and US Open. Though he did not win his first Grand Slam until 1992, he racked up 8 in his career, an Olympic Gold Medal in 1996, and some of the best of the best sneakers throughout his career.
We just got the news from KDAY1580 at NikeTalk that Nike will infact retro the Air Tech Challenge. Two colorways are due out next year with the first pair dropping in April, 2007. These, like all Agassi sneakers are a love/hate shoe. Some people consider these to be grails and others consider them to be garbage. My first pair of these I actually got at Copelands Sports in 1998 in Fresno, CA for $25. To many, these were just ugly looking loud shoes.
We’ll keep you posted with more news about these sneakers. Though these sneakers are coming back, I don’t think Agassi’s mullet ever will.

Glad to see that you appreciate these sneakers too. I do find it sad that Nike and Jordan have done such a good job at making people think the only good sneakers are Air Force Ones and Air Jordans.
There are tons of great sneakers out there and sometimes its a good idea to try out new stuff.
Now only if Nike will bring back the Air Assailants from 1998!

These kicks are some of the slickest kicks put out by Nike these were right up there wiht Jordans and Bo Jacksons when they came out, i’m deffinently coppin a pair when they hit the store’s i had them back in the day and wore the soles on them, these one’s i’m keepin fresh.

I hate being negative but who gets to pick what shoes come out??? These are crazy but why wait… only sneakerheads like ourself understand the importance of these… what about everyone else??? The masses, It seems to me nike only bring shoes out that they seem to be good.. How long have we been telling them to bring this stuff out… I think someone is trying to save there job…What about griffy 1 the other hot kick nike has made…NIKE act like haters sometimes always being fat with the action.. You know sharing is caring….

Nike replaced the Agassi logo with a Nike Air logo for the retros on the back of the shoe. Its funny that replacing the Nike Air on a Jordan is “ruining” a classic, but replacing the orignal Agassi logo with a Nike Air logo is fine?
Just buy what you like and pass on what you don’t like people. I am sick to death of this whining over what logo goes where.

I just hope that the quality of the shoe isn’t sh*tty like all the retro jordans they’ve been making. I am sick of the excess glue and messed up leather on all the shoes they’ve been producing lately.

This is to comment 9,I TOTALLY AGREE with you when you said the Griffey Max 1 should be retroed!I’ve sent a letter and e-mail to them about those kicks and the Barkleys with “Sir” and “Charles” on the bottom of the sneakers(I think those are the Air Max CB34)(HOLY GRAILS BATMAN!!!!).Maybe a petition should be started just like the one for the Air Tech Challenge(just a thought:).
