Retro Air Jordan 5 vs. OG Air Jordan V Grapes Comparison
| Two weeks have passed since the Air Jordan 5 Grapes were re-released. Sixteen years in the making and it is all worth it! My local spots sold out in my size, but thanks to a friend overseas I was able to still score a pair for retail.
I have a few pairs of the OG Air Jordan V’s and I wanted to share with all of you a side by side comaprison of the originals and the retros. There are some more OG colorways coming out in the next year and we’ll post more comparisons in the future. For the mean time, check out our updated Air Jordan Release Dates page. |

Theirs a bunch of big differences between the two. Maaaaannnn, i should have copped the grape Vs when i had the chance at footaction!

They’re closer to the originals than the mars and the military 4’s were. I still don’t understand why they made the 4’s so different from the originals. These are as close as it gets IMO.

I spurned the retro’s to get the 3M’s. They I-Ight, but not jumpin off. Whats the deal with the “Air Jordan” in the tongue being upside down in the OG’s? My Retro white/midnite navy/col blue has it like this, so why don’t these retro’s???

well i got the the grapes in my closet and im am neva wearing them again i wore them and almost got my azz rocked for them so no more for me but they are a gorgeous pair of shoes

If you want them some authentic online stores are seeling them for 225-350 but sizes are limited but there is always ebay but watch who you buy from. I waited in line for 6 hours and still didnt get them. so i paid only 225 on ebay.

I was also one of the few lucky ones that were able to snatch up the new grapes. Dropped $175 on the spot. I think the OGz got the retros on this one.

I got the grapes, they so fresh its hard for me to even wear em once, but anyways, y is the “air jordan” tag on the tounge upside down n y would it even be upside down in the first place, is there any specific explanation for that??

for all of u jordan heads so called.lol. da ogs and the retros are almost the same color is jus dat the ogs are old and dead so the sole yellowed and the white part on the tongue yellowed this is wut happens afta a while. and da emerald in the retros is lighter.

Hey ES, I don’t know if you actually own any of the originals, but I have the original fire red 4’s and besides the jumpman on the back, the netting is different, and the triangle piece is way lower than that of the original, check out air-jordans.com and look at the pictures of them. You can tell that all the recent retro and the retro+ shoes have the lower triangle thingy and the tounges are way thinner material. The originals are kinda puffy and thick while the new retro models are thin as heck. You can just tell when you wear them. Not the originals, but pretty close. I still prefer the original retro black cements and the white milk and cookies IV’s. They are closest to OG as it gets.

The diferences I can see: Jordan instead of Nike on the Bottom. Jumpman instead of Nike Air on heel. Flame has more rounded shape on Originals, Air Jordan upside down on orginals

i like them both because the OG’s make you remember the ’90s and the retros make you think of now 2006. But i do think that that the retros could have been more of a pearly white than bleach white.
