First Look: Nike Air Penny III Retro

Nike Air Penny III Retro

Breaking news just in at Nice Kicks!

Now that you guys know the Nike Air Penny II will be coming out this fall, get ready for the completion of your Penny line to arrive shortly as well. The Nike Air Penny III will be making it’s return to stores in 2009 slated for a spring release! As of now the two original color ways have been confirmed and will make their way to retail doors.

The Nike Air Penny III was the third numbered signature shoe that he wore in the NBA not counting the infamous Nike Air Foamposite. Like the Foamposite the Penny III featured a Posite upper that had a “liquid” appearance giving the shoe that nickname. The Penny III came in just two colorways back in the day, that saw the court very few times. In the early part of the 1997-98 season, Penny suffered a career altering knee injury that has been operated on a total of five times to date. Despite being sidelined early on, Lil Penny and fans brought Penny to the All Star Game where many criticized him for coming back too soon to play on the battered knee.

Stay up to date with Nice Kicks as we will keep you posted with any additional info, release dates, or updates about the Nike Air Penny III retro. Much thanks to Chicago’s Mayor for the shots.

  6. These were originally to be release with a White wing instead of the Blue, but that GOD they didn’t. Those were the days of kicks and REAL ball players ie: Penny and Timmy

  8. Big L,

I am with you about real ball players. The Boston 3 party are giving me new hope for the NBA, but I really miss the days of any given game a player giving it his all and not even concerned with his health just for the sake of winning.

  18. I’m sorry I am NOT FEELING these t-shoe’s? even when they first dropped? they just look so CHEAP!!! I saw this guy with them on and the side with the foamposite was peeling off??? AAAaawww NNaaawww!!! maybe if the foamposite on the side was acually part the of the t-shoe itself? instead of being what looks like glued to the side? it would be better but I’ll have to pass on these? But will def cop the Penny II’s in both colorways, fo sho!!!

  24. Treadwell High School-Memphis State University- Megastardom in the league with the Magic. Its a damn shame his health couldn’t hold him down though.

I will be copping. I’m a Memphis guy. This is a no brainer.

    Comment by IkonRadio.com — June 25, 2008 @ 4:07 pm

  25. ^ Yes that damn left knee got between him and his potential. It is sad because he truly could have been HOF status, but with the knee his sneakers will be remembered more than his game in history.
