Air Max craze is almost at fever pitch just days before the third annual Air Max Day this Saturday, March 26. Everyone will pull out their best or favorite pairs, unifying the world through Air and innovation. Highsnobiety decided to make their contribution to Air Max Day in an inventive new way – through classic oil paintings.

With careful brush strokes, and inspiration from some of the publication’s favorite Air Max models, this uniquely curated art show captures Air like we’ve never seen it before. Borrowing from the Dutch Masters and 17th century oil painting interpretation, the celebration of Air Max Day grows deeper, and adjoins the parallels in value of traditional art and sneaker art.

Take a look at the paintings below. And for more commentary on this project and its inspiration, head over to Highsnobiety.
