Throwback Thursday: Nike Air Garnett
|
Two weeks ago while many were leaving comments on our Throwback Thursday article about the Adidas KB8II, there were quite a few asking about what was on KG’s feet. Two weeks later (shout out to USPS for taking 2 weeks go deliver a package 1200 miles away) we have the pair to showcase to you for Part 2 of this Throwback Thursday. The delay however has given the shoes a little more significance since this Throwback Thursday of his first signature shoe is just 2 days after KG’s first NBA Championship. Kevin Garnett entered the league straight from high school and was immediately scooped by Nike, but it took him a couple seasons in the league before he received his first signature sneaker, the Nike Air Garnett. The shoes came in a couple colorways that matched the Minnesota Timberwolves jerseys, but were never that popular amongst the general public. The shoes also came at a time when Nike had signature sneakers for big names including Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Charles Barkley, and Penny Hardaway (you might have heard of them). Today, finding them is not as easy as many would think but for any KG fan they are a must have. Possibly these will best be remembered of what was to come for KG in the form of Nike shoes including the Tuned Air cushioned Garnett IIIs and the Flightposite II KG. Garnett left Nike in 2001 for an endorsement deal with And1 followed by his current sponsorship from Adidas. That being said, it is highly unlikely these will return in the form of a retro. More shots after the jump. |

i agree with darneezy. whats Malone wearing? and KG’s kicks could look better if the sides were colored more.

Ha ha….yeah, I guess it was meant to be. Props to KG for winning a championship even though our Kevin McFail could not deliver while he was here in MN, regardless how hard KG tried. Sam, KG, and Latrell were the best bet and almost beat the Lakers several years back. Wow, it seems like many moons ago.
On to the shoe …. those kicks have no spice, either. Adidas Bounce are his best kicks by far, imo.
