Nike Air Flight Lite “Pippen”
|
Just a few days ago we gave you a first look at the upcoming Nike Air Flight Lite High retro in an original colorway and another that brought back many memories of Scottie Pippen with the shoe (though he wore the low top version). We just received word, and photos, of the Air Flight Lite High colored just like the ones that Pippen wore throughout the 1991 NBA Playoffs en route to the Bulls first championship. Pippen complimented Jordan’s performance in the Playoffs averaging 21.6 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 5.8 assists, but what the numbers can’t show was his best contribution during the Finals. The Lakers took Game 1 of the Finals and as a result coach Phil Jackson reassigned the defense to put Pippen on Magic Johnson. The Lakers did not win another game in the series and the Lakers’ dynasty ended at home in the Forum at the completion of Game 5. Look for this pair of the Black/White Nike Air Flight Lite Highs in spring of next year when Nike Flight celebrates its 20th Anniversary. Pics thanks to Chicago’s Mayor. |

Lace swap!
Magic gave Jordan Hell in game one. I remember that series like it was yesterday. putting Pip on Magic made a huge difference.
Comment by J.King — June 26, 2008 @ 4:07 am
Pip is the best bball defender of all time! At least from the late 80s and up. He guarded people of all sizes and positions. He also shut down Mark Jackson of the Pacers after Mark was having this way with the Bulls in the 1998 Eastern Conference Finals. The Bulls actually had a tougher time handing the Pacers than they did to win the Finals against the Jazz……..simply b/c of Mark’s post-up moves……BUT all that stopped with Pip was guarding him.
Give credit to Phil Jackson……he definitely knew matches. Too bad he had no answer for the Celtics this year. Game 7 would have been fun to see.
Additionally, I consider Shawn Marion the Pip of today’s time. Suns Effed up trading him away, as well as losing Joe Johnson.

forget these!!! the air flight lite II is a sexy shoe.

Nice post…nice kicks….Maybe too tall for me to rock nowadays.
Somehow I bet Phil Jackson is wondering will the consistency of Pippen ever come out of Odom or Gasol.

Peep the Pony kicks Hershey Hawkins in rocking!
I was headed to the 8th grade when this series happened. I miss the days of High top shoes and the fact that people actually rocked different brands. At 31 years old I’m an old timer? Damn!

Terry Teagle was brought in to spell Magic and to offer some stability to the back court via the bench.

i remember that series growing up in cali it was hard cause i was a laker fan but i loved jordans and playing them in the finals was heart breaking cause after that magic announced he had been infected with the hiv virus… that killed me. but this was a nice peice. thanks for the memories and the nice photos of the game and shoes….. when are these dropping? i do remember everyone rocking different brands like adidas and the converse weapons even avias back then were fly…. but back then it was hard to buy a pair of hundred dollar shoes. now with a little money in my pocket i can cop a pair for the kids and myself…. keep us poted on the drop….

Comment by Biggins — June 27, 2008 @ 4:43 pm
Boss as hell, man. I can’t offer my normal complaints. This shoe is on point.
Comment by Chris — June 27, 2008 @ 9:24 pm
Nike gotta retro the shoe’s in those pictures. Hands down, those Black and White lows are the coldest hoops shoes ever! one more thing, they need to lose that little clear section on the sole of the Retro’s. . . . . . the originals didn’t have that!
Comment by hughjo — June 28, 2008 @ 11:08 am
