Nike Air Bakin aka “Air Allah” Returns

Nike brings back another classic. In 1998, the Nike Air Bakin made national headlines when Arab-American groups thought that the way “Air” was written on the shoe looked too similar to “Allah” written in Arabic. Nike recalled thousands of shoes, covered the logos with patches and the shoes made their way to the outlets. Unfortunately for Nike, there were hundreds of thousands of shoes fresh out of the factories that had the same logo.  All of which were destroyed/  In the end that logo cost Nike millions plus a playground built to ease tensions.

This time around, the Nike Air Bakins will feature a “Nike Air” logo on the back when they release to the public in August for $125. Pics thanks to Complex.

  8. Well, It doesn’t look like AIR, But did Nike announce that they actually meant it this way?

If not then i know Islam is wide enough to embrace the ignorance of those who don’t know.. and enlighten them

  10. Oh PLEASE! Nike Air Bakin DOES NOT have the controversial logo on it. That photo you have was an old photo from their recalled product. Below is a link that shows all angle of the product. STOP inciting anger from Muslims all over again, will you? It’s just not right!
