Chinese sportswear giant Li-Ning is widely known within the sneaker community for its work with Dwyane Wade. His signature collection with the brand is in its sixth year, and stands largely representative of the company’s presence Stateside. But now that their footing is cemented in the U.S. market, they’re expanding their reach with new silhouettes of a progressive and avant-garde nature.
Taking creative leaps as a brand of their caliber should, Li-Ning recently previewed a futuristic new lifestyle shoe far removed from the conforming trends. Adored in a matte Silver that almost mimics Robocop’s foot, perforations lay at the base of the upper’s sleek textile while overlaying strap mechanisms snake up the high cut model. A sock-like ankle collar adds height to the modern contemporary build which is further bolstered by a gleaming heel counter. That same shiny material wraps that shoe in place of a traditional mudguard. As a finisher, Li-Ning tinkers gingerly with the chunky midsole trend. However, they’ve done so in their own unique way much to the shoe’s favor.
