After signing with Nike back in summer, Compton native Kendrick Lamar is already gearing up for his first collaborative release with the brand. And it makes perfect sense that given his birth place the debut project surrounds the newly resurgent Nike Cortez.
Previewing a sample pair earlier this month, as Lamar wore the “Don’t Trip” labeled model courtside at Kobe Bryant’s jersey retirement ceremony, the retail iteration appears today with slight variations and release details.
The shoe is set to release on Sunday, January 28, a special night for Lamar and TDE. The Grammy’s will air that evening and Lamar is up for seven awards, including Album of the Year for DAMN. On this new version of the Kendrick Lamar x Nike Cortez the album’s title is seen prominently at the tongue, while white and red shades cascade throughout the upper.
Pairs will be available on Grammy night at 7:30pm EST via Nike SNKRS. The shoe is priced moderately at $100 USD.
