Jordan Brand Gives Gymnasium to Slidell, LA

On Thursday, February 14th, a day known for love, Jordan Brand showed exactly that to the small Gulf Coast community of Slidell, LA. While a few weeks ago the French Quarter was live with celebration of Mardi Gras, about a half hour down the road this small community is still grieving from the destruction of Hurricane Katrina.

Jordan Brand held a press conference Thursday to announce their donation of $500,000 to the Slidell, LA Boys and Girls Club to build new facilities. Michael Jordan, Carmelo Anthony, and local hero Chris Paul were on hand with the President of JB Garry Cook to make the announcement of their commitment to the continued efforst of rebuilding the Gulf Coast.
It’s moves like this that remind us that Jordan is much more than his greatness on court - the greatness continues.

  3. Good look JB. At the same time the should have given cash. $500.00 is not even a drop in the bucket for those guys. Its a good deed but still kinda cheep imo.

  4. ^ JB gave $500k, not $500. Slidell is a tiny community of only 20k or 25k people so this will be a great addition for them.

I personally have stayed in Slidell twice since Katrina. First time was just 7 months after the storm, and then a year after that. The people of the town are extremely nice people and were very positive for having gone through such a tragedy.

Shout out to the Waffle House at exit 263 :-)

  7. I,ve lived in Slidell for the last 19 years. I went to the boys and girls club when I was a kid. This is a great addition to the community since the storm. And that Waffle house is the best.

  9. This is what makes really makes a difference! Mos Def in the Small Community in LA because years later the SMALL & LARGE MINORITY communities are still feeling the affects of Katrina slow govenrment response and funds. To some it still just like Katrina happen yesterday. Gotta give Jordan & NBA some love for their work and $$$$ in the communities in La other than Bourbon ST.
