Just two months ago, NYC and the basketball world lost a legend with the passing of Greg Marius at the age of 59. Many great things could be said about Marius, but to put it simply, the man was a visionary for playground hoops and helped bring the sport at Rucker Park to a global level of attention. The founder of Rucker Park’s Entertainer’s Basketball Classic created an everlasting legacy for Harlem that regularly saw the best of NYC matched against some of the world’s greatest basketball players for a kind of entertainment you could get no where else.

This morning, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio held a small gathering for members of the community of Greg Marius’ family to dedicate the naming of the basketball court at the world famous Rucker Park to Greg Marius Court.
