Exclusive Interview with Tinker Hatfield
| Joe La Puma of Complex Magazine recently interviewed Nike and Jordan’s “Don of design” Tinker Hatfield. A copy of this interview is available in the new issue of Complex Magazine which hit news stands today, 2/12, but not all of the interview was included in the magazine.
In a Complex.com web exclusive, “sneaker celeb” Tinker opens up to Joe about his “in” at Nike, who pushed him in his career, as well as what he thinks of companies that rip his designs. Also, Tinker drops some info about some Air Jordans that we have never heard before such as what the inspiration was behind the Air Jordan 11 and also about the time that Mike got mad at Tinker over a shoe. There have been many interviews done with people in and around Jordan Brand, but none compare to this one. Check it out at Complex.com. |

Tinker is cool and all but why do you say he’s your daddy? It’s pretty homo to call another guy your daddy if he’s not… Not that I have anything against homo’s, I could care less about their choice, but I’m just saying it’s pretty homo to call another guy your daddy.

Cool interview, very interesting too. My fav comment from the Complex interview:
“There are all these remakes (meaning …. retros) and people are digging the remakes because they can actually participate in the remaking. I have to say I have a lot of limited edition Air Force Ones and Jordans and Air Maxes in my own closet. I think it’s really fun to wear them, and you can sort of put your own stamp of style into those kinds of shoes. It’s kind of a love/hate thing for me. I kind of hate it because it makes it harder to sort of convince people that this new kind of product is better than the old one, when they love the old one so much. But it’s kind of cool that they love the old one so much, and I was a part of that. So it kind of goes back and forth with me.”
