Event :New Niketown opened in Oregon with Tinker
Eugene , Oregon is basically the running capital of the world if you don’t know the history behind it I suggest a little more reading for you. This past weekend they opened up a new store dedicated to basketball and football with of course some running footwear and clothes in there. The thing that was special about this new store is the special appearances from Nike founders and key contributors of the company. Most notably footwear designer Tinker Hatfield was in attendance as well as Nelson Ferris one of Nike’s originals you may say, and of course Jason Mayden from Jordan Brand. Well fellow ISS board member niners819 was there to take some shots of the event, pictures after the jump. |

Oregon has always been one of my favorite Places in the world and it just as good as any of the major markets if not the 1 for sneaks and not just nike and jordan.

Get a Niketown in Dallas thanks. We’re to big of a city to be relying on Big Mike’s overpriced shoes.

It finally took them this long to get a store in the city that started it all? Long overdue if you ask me.

we have always had a nike store here in eugene forever!!! does blue ribbon sports on olive street ring a bell? my wife has had the chance to meet tinker when she went bought me the jordan v’s for christmas couple years back very envious). u guys need to read geoff hollister’s book “out of nowhere”,if u do not understand the reason for a nike store in eugene, oregon. this is the third time the nike store has been redeveloped. it gets worse everytime they do it. the jordan section keeps on shrinking each time. hardly any basketball stuff. pre lives!!!

Jabby i was born and rasied in Jacksonville and i Love my home state but i’m be honest J VILLE Duval County doesn’t have the Sneak Shops Oregon not Oregen has the last time i checked J Ville doesn’t have a Nike & Adidas home office in the State & Oregon still has more sneaks shops not even counting those two.
Comment by solesaved — September 14, 2008 @ 3:42 pm
I went to this also since it’s 10 mins. from my house. I thought the shop would have some cool stuff in there but it was really about the same as the one downtown, except they had some of the sportswear stuff there. I wasn’t trying to spend $40 on a t-shirt.

Jabby, its apparent you know very little if anything about the shoe game. You are talking about the birthplace of Nike right there! Do a little research homie. I just moved from Boston to downtown Portland, OR, about 10 mins from the Nike HQ, and about 5 from Adidas HQ, and the last time I checked there is a larger population of people living in the Portland Metro than Jacksonville Metro. Oh and no sales tax in Oregon son!! hahaha

nicekicks.com needs to automatically ban peoples IP addresses everytime they reply with something ignorant and idiotic in a shoe post………….if that would happen about 80 ppl would of already been banned alone from the “air jordan 6 rings” responses.

Hah i didn’t know that someone posted my pics in here. This was a great experience. And i don’t know whats up with all the people hating on nike since oregon is where it all started. Im from california but moved to oregon and eugene is a very athlectic place and is proud to have nike’s headquarters in this state.
Also the 1’s that J. Mayden was wearing are 1 of 1, they will not release. They have “team of honor” prinnted on the clear nike swoosh.
Comment by Niners819 — September 28, 2008 @ 2:04 am
dont know if anyone noticed, but the jordan 1’s hes wearing also happen to be the PHAT LOWS…you can tell from the tagless and padded tongue….wonder if these could turn out to be a future cw…
