Converse Weapon to Return

All this week we have been busy in Barcelona at the Bread and Butter show. Converse had an amazing booth full of great kicks to come, but unfortunately our cameras could not come inside. What we can tell you is that the 100 year old brand is bringing back the classic Converse Weapon in a handful of great colorways including those originally worn by the crew that sported the Weapon back in the day. Boston and LA come to mind thanks to the “Choose Your Weapon” advertising campaign, but colors were also made for Detroit, Dallas, and NYC (my personal favorite).

All of the Weapons are made of rich leathers and suedes and are lined on the inside with leather lining. Both high and low cuts will be available throughout the re-release campaign. Though cameras were not allowed inside the Converse set up, our good friends at Limiteditions (Barcelona based boutique) set us up with some good photos of the “Magic” and “Bird” makeups of the Converse Weapons.   3. i knew a bunch of people that had these after the 1st release. but now, im pretty sure the popularity of these kicks has passed.

  6. So Converse is making an official re-release. Sweet. I’ve wanted to cop a pair for a long time. You can’t find them anywhere without going to a store, which is unfortunate for those of us who live near as many actual shoestores as the inhabitants of surface of the moon do.

  7. tight…when these were released in i believe 2001, i had a pair of each colorway, they were part of the 2 for 89.99 special that foot locker had….i used to ball in them, very comfortable

  10. This is wonderful news, but’s with the suede? The suede toebox on the Celtic Weapons kinda ruins it for me.

  13. man.. Im only 17 but i remember wearin em when i was in 7th or 8th grade..
    i thought they were tha freshest shoes on tha planet..
    2 for 89.. bak when my moms would actually but me shoes.. haha..

    I dont got anything against em, but i dont see these selling now.. maybe some of tha older sneakerheads.. (oldER, not old.. haha)

  17. Personally–Its a freaking no brainer for Converse to release these after the Finals. Not sure why we didnt see these in June.

    I will be taking both colors to go with both jerseys.

  21. I have ones from the 80’s and ones from the last time around. The Bernard King reto pair and the maroon pair from back in the day broke a few necks. Younger sneaker aficanados won’t buy them thus they will end up on sale. I for one can’t wait! One of my favorie kicks off all time. The lows look great with shorts.

  22. These are so ugly and yet so fresh, lol. I want a pair of the black and white ones like my man Bird used to wear. These represent the beginning of the basketball sneaker game as a major money maker. Much respect to Converse, but the marketability of Bird and Magic was the jump off for sneaker sales like they are today. Of course, a guy named Mike also had something to do with that consumer aspect as well!

    I think the fact that these were the beginning of total madness makes these extra special. It is almost poetic that this came along just about the same time that the Air Jordans did.

    Almost like the originator (Converse) passing the torch to the new school (Nike) only to go less than 20 years and then the new school buys out the originator :-P

  37. I am getting old, them show are still ugly though…Magic and Bird use to be into it when the NBA finals used to jump off. And I refuse to paid over 40 dollars for a pair of 20+ yr old shoes…lol…

    i have tried to locate the black weapon for quite a while, they have sold out every where, even at auction like ebay no one is parting with them, HOWEVER converse . com allows you to customize the weapon and you can order them there in that way when they are available to be customized in spring 09. also the original pro leather that bird wore fom 79 until the weapon was released are available now there.
