Nike Dunk High “Brazil”
Brazil may not be able to compete in the Euro Cup (since they are in South America), but doing anything to celebrate soccer and leaving Brazil out of the mix is almost a sin.
Brazil has seen their fair share of kicks inspired by their national flag including Dunk lows from 2002 and Air Force Ones and an Air Max 95 for the ‘06 World Cup. Like other a few other Dunk Highs in the Euro Cup pack, the shoes have only a few colors, but multiple materials including patent leather, full grain, suede, and canvas. Available now at LTD-Online. |
Nike SB Dunk Low Premium “Lobster”
Boston edition kicks are nothing new but the norm calls for shamrocks and nicknames like “bean town” stitched on the side of the shoes. Rob Heppler and Concepts worked with Nike SB to create something that represented the Capital of the Commonwealth and New England.
To coincide with the upcoming Maine Lobster season that kicks off in May comes the “Lobster” Nike SB Dunk Lows. No details were overlooked with most of the exterior of the shoe resembling the armored shell of the succulent crustacean. The inside of the shoe was first mistaken for a picnic table cloth when samples shots leaked, but in fact it is to resemble the “Lobster bibs” commonly worn to keep the dripping butter off your new tie. The blue band that represents the rubber band to keep the lobsters from killing each other in the tank also doubles as an accessory so you can show your hypebeast friends that you own a pair of these even when you aren’t wearing them. These are available now in Japan at essence, but they will drop Stateside next month. |
Nike Dunk Low “Ronaldo”
|
Christiano Ronaldo and the Portuguese team will be busy in June in the European Cup, but Brazilian star Ronaldo will be watching the tourney despite playing in Europe professionally. In celebration of the European Cup, Nike is creating many soccer inspired makeups of the Dunk including this pair made to resemble Ronaldo’s cleats on not only the upper but also the sole. Though the fun and excitement this June will be in Europe, these shoes will also release domestically for $125. Like the top tiered soccer cleats, these Dunks also feature Zoom Air. Stay tuned for more limited Euro Cup drops. |
Nike Dunk Rivalry Pack
|
The madness may be over, but school spirit never sleeps. This year has been a big year for the Nike Dunks as well as school spirit expressed through footwear. We all know about the Nike Be True To Your School Dunks that were released earlier this year, but Nike has done something special for the “TRUE” fans of three schools. Nike wanted to create a set of three Dunks to pay homage to the fans who will eat, sleep, live, and die for their school’s team - North Carolina, Georgetown, and Syracuse. Several pairs of the Syracuse Orangemen Dunk Lows were released at a special school event a short while ago, but we have yet to see the Georgetown Hoyas and North Carolina Tar Heels pairs until now. Like the lows, both utilize their school colors across patent leather and Kevlar-looking canvas. The school mascot is written in big, bold lettering like on the Nike Terminators. At this point in time we have no release details, but judging by the goal of these shoes, expect for these to be something limited and released in conjunction with the respective University’s event. Sport banquet tickets just rose in value. Info first released by Allen Benedikt & Hype Beast. |
Nike Dunk High “Euro Champs Pack” - Croatia
|
Croatia, a region with a long history, is still in its infancy as an independent nation. Croatia split away from Yugoslavia in 1991, but something of great nationalism in the country has been its soccer squad. In fact, Croatia hosted an international friendly with the United States in 1990 (defeating the US 2-1) - nearly a year before it was recognized as a country by the State Department. Since then it has had storied success in the international stage. Croatia qualified for its first World Cup in ‘98 where the first timers marched all the way to a third place finish. Nike is releasing a series of Dunks in celebration of the 2008 UEFA Euro Football Championship for the next several months leading up to the Euro Cup in June. This pair was made to honor Croatia who will be appearing in their third Euro Cup. Expect a few pairs to be worn in the stands when Croatia take on co-host nation Austria for the first match. |
Nike Dunk High Vintage - White/Green
Nike has two ongoing campaigns this year - celebration of the Nike Dunk and vintage makeups of iconic silhouettes. This Dunk High Vintage encompasses both in a classic white/green colorway already nicknamed the “Celtics”.
Like the Vintage Be True To Your School Dunks from earlier this year, the shoes are cosmetically aged with slight yellowing of the soles and original nylon tongue. Unlike the Be True’s, the uppers don’t appear to have much aging done to the leather by scratches from the photos of the shoes we saw on Hanon Shop. Info thanks to Sneaker News. |
Throwback Thursday - Kentucky Nike Dunk PE
| March Madness is underway and what better than big names like Xavier getting in the first round. This weeks throwback was chosen based on two of my favorite loves - college basketball and kicks. That being said, no better choice than a pair of original Nike Dunk High PE’s worn by the Kentucky Wildcats.
These kicks were team issued in 1985 to the players of the Kentucky Wildcats with the school’s logo on the tongue as opposed to the tag that all of the other Dunks had.The year that the Wildcats laced up in the Dunks was a rather successful one. Led by coach Eddie Sutton, UK won the SEC regular season and tourney championship and entered the NCAA Tournament as a No. 1 seed. Sadly the road ended in the Elite-8 when they were upset by fellow SEC member LSU. Kentucky takes on Marquette today. Hopefully this post will bring them the same luck that UNLV got from last week’s Throwback Thursday (they won the Mountain West Tourney). |
