Chicago Bulls All-Star Joakim Noah has many things in common with his tennis legend father, but sneakers aren’t one of them. Joakim’s old man Yannick famously donned Le Coq Sportif footwear over his illustrious athletic career, leading his son to follow in his footsteps with the French brand when he entered the league in 2007. Despite the brand’s designs having the look more synonymous with a luxury model, Joakim wore the line faithfully for seven years before signing with adidas. That move now makes more sense, since this year’s NBA Defensive Player of the Year is now suing Le Coq Sportif. According to TMZ, Noah is blaming the brand for inflaming his ongoing plantar fasciitis foot injury that caused him to miss games last season, as well as claiming they didn’t pay up more than $1.65 million of his 6-year $6 million deal. In the suit, the former Florida Gator says that shortly after he signed, LCS shut down its U.S. offices and fired his rep, and also suddenly stopped paying him in 2013. Dress Blue, Alloy Grey and Leather Brown hues lend themselves to the new Le Coq Sportif Eclat Leather Premium Pack. The sporty retro runner retains shape but changes composition in a new assortment of premium leather offerings. Gum bottoms keep it classy on each take, while suede trim offers contrast. The Le Coq Sportif Eclat Leather Premium Pack is available now at Sole Heaven.
Over the weekend and across the sea, the Sneaker Freaker x Le Coq Sportif Flash “Summer Bay” launched at a pop-up shop party thrown by Sole Heaven. Limited to only 60 pairs, the shoes were served at a sneaker bar on Tynemouth beach, with Aussie BBQ, rum punch and music adding to the mood. While the Sneaker Freaker x Le Coq Sportif collab is now long gone, you can now see a recap of the European launch festivities. Check out their video footage and photos below.
Decadent desert provides the inspiration on the Foot Patrol x Le Coq Sportif Eclat “Macaron Edition”. Macaron makeup is channeled by a crisp nubuck upper, sweetened with a smooth silk styling. Metallic gold tagging and 3M lace hints add detail, capped off by gum bottoms. Look for these to launch at Foot Patrol on June 1st.
If your retro running collection is already full of Swooshes or various assortments of stripes, Sneaker Freaker looks to break up the monotony with a new Le Coq Sportif collab. Working on the Flash silo, the “Summer Bay” makeup features silky mesh styling, set to the tones of white and pale blue. Shades of blue, pink, and yellow add to the beachy vibe, with co-branding cascading the tongues. Look for these to release sometime this July, with release date and distribution details on the way.
