Premium Leather Bape Sta Lows & Mids
This fall Bathing Ape has flipped the script with their entire line ditching the all over prints, pastel colors, and patent leather for solid colors and premium leather and nubuck. To finish off their lineup, they saved the best for last releasing the Red Wing inspired colors of the Bape Stas in the classic low top as well as retooled mid.
Something that has changed on the mid is that there isn’t a useless strap. Those who grabbed the last mids in 2004 (myself included), can testify about the strap that was too short to strap up while wearing the shoes. Minus the strap the shoes retail the silhouette, but almost have a Nike Court Force High shape. These have released already at Cliff Edge in Japan, but start annoying calling the staff daily at Bape NY to know when they hit Stateside.

Bathing Ape Bape Crepe
Next year Puma has some crazy stuff in store for us with the Clyde, but ironically, Nigo and Bathing Ape are going a different direction with their new color ups of the Bape Crepe. The Bape Crepe, like the Bape Sta Force 1, is a take off on the Puma Clyde done in a low top with a similar outsole, rich suede upper, pre-packed with fat laces.
These are not yet available at the Busy Work Shop in NYC or London but will be available shortly.
Bape Premium Leather Skull Stas
| Putting all the Bape haters at bay, this fall Bathing Ape has replaced the inexpensive though eye catching patent leather and all over prints for simple yet quality premium leather. We have given you a look at premium leather Road Stas, Bape Boots, and now Skull Stas.
Like the prior premium leather joints, the Skull Stas come in three colors - wheat, black, and burgundy. These have just recently released in Japan and are set to make their way across the water to Bape NYC and Bape London. Pics thanks to Cliff Edge. |

Ostrich Bape Stas for Pharrell
Nigo takes care of those who take care of him. Both Pharrell and Kanye West have had their own Bathing Apes, but at a recent BBC event, Nigo had some special surprise for Pharrell - ostrich skin Bape Stas produced exclusively for him.
We have seen Bape make strides away from the super loud colors and patent leather so don’t be surprised if we don’t see more of shoes like this, but don’t expect to get true ostrich skin kicks for $200 anytime soon either. Pics taken from Pharrell’s BBC blog via CtotheJL.
New Premium Leather Bape Boots
Its that time of year again. Depending on the weather, one may have to decide between style and functionality as the days get colder, wetter, and more disastrous for your favorite pair of kicks. Thankfully, many companies have taken notice that just because you need to lace up in boots doesn’t mean you need to look like everyone else in the crowd.
Last week we posted a lineup of premium leather Bape Road Stas which we have now found to have taken inspiration from Red Wing Boots. Bape has taken inspiration from the famous boot company to produce their own line of boots. Like the Road Stas, they are simple in color and style. A nice detail is that the shoes do have an embossed Bape camo pattern, but no bright colors or patent leather.
With Bape making moves to be more subtle with colors, one has to ask if Nigo will trade in his pink camo Bentley for one with a stock paint job…
Premium Leather Bape Road Stas
Bathing Ape is back at it again with more of the Bape Road Stas, but even Bape is ditching the all over crazy prints and fruity colors and even patent leather for their latest lineup. These three Road Stas all feature premium leathers and have the nice touches everyone appreciates such as a leather lined inside. These will be delivering soon to Busy Work Shops worldwide.
DC Comics x Bape Round 2
| Bape smashed a few months of silence making noise in the sneaker culture with the release of the creative DC Comics x Bape series. The package included some high end sweaters, toys, and of course Bape Stas packaged like action figures.
Bape is back at it again with another round of DC Comics collab products. This time around they did some simple hoodies, hats, and Road Stas. No word yet when these will release at the NY store, but you can bet that when the word hits the street, many Metro cards will be swiped at train stations to head over to 91 Greene St. |
