Bonehead Award: Stores That Leak Numbered Kicks
| Like with the Air Jordan XX3 release, much anticipation is brewing for the epic Jordan x Levi’s 23/501 Collection release that takes place tomorrow. In the case of the Titanium XX3 release, only 23 US and 23 international stores were blessed with the shoes, but greed got in the way of committing to a launch date as several pairs were leaked early (5 out of 6 at one point from Toronto).
While some of these sellers were smart to cover the individually numbered tag (to prevent their spot from getting in ish), a ton of resellers have hit eBay clearly showing which numbered box of the 23/501 Collection they have for sale early. While we understand and respect stores who reserve pairs for VIP customers, it’s another thing to sell a full size run to someone before release date. It is more than obvious that these shoes are not for them personally, but rathe to make a quick buck from reselling online. We don’t want to “knock anyone’s hustle” but for every pair sold off early to a reseller is one local customer who can not get their size. So to you merchants who were selectively chosen by Jordan Brand and Levi’s to take part in this epic release and chose to leak full size runs of individually numbered shoes, we award to you our first ever “Bonehead Award.” A list of the numbered sets leaked early onto eBay are listed after the jump. You can thank your “VIP customers” for letting the cat out of the bag. |

LoL how stupid could you be to post the actual number on the auction like that. Your shop just did you a major favor selling them to you early, now you try to make a buck off of it and blow up your spot….really stupid sellers and shops if you ask me.

I have to totally agree on this subject. My boy runs a spot and he will hold a pair for me, but selling 12 pairs to ONE person is not cool.
The way I see it, that shop could have 12 happy customers with those 12 pairs rather than having ONE customer who just made money off of the kicks.

it doesn’t matter anyway….we can cry all we want but nothing will ever happen, JB never punishes those who pull this shady business
look what happened with the Titanium XX3s at SNYX in Chicago (selling the complete FSR to one person at $1000/each only to have them resell for 2x as much)…and they didnt get the JB account pulled or anything like that.
the ultimate loser in the end= THE LOYAL CONSUMER

That’s real funny, bonehead with Homer Simpson. haha. I say, no more reserves from every shop in the world and if that shop does reserves, they will be SHUTDOWN.

WHAT ABOUT THE LITTLE PEOPLE?

“WHAT ABOUT THE LITTLE PEOPLE?” - ken
I am assuming the “little people” refers to independent/mom and pop shops.
Anyone who knows me knows that I have a lot of love and respect for independent shops. Independents and boutiques pump so much into the sneaker culture that chain stores don’t. Knowledgeable staff who are as passionate about the shoes as you and me make the buying experience much more enjoyable to the point that one doesn’t even need to have more than a nice conversation with one of the sneaker loving workers to feel that they have left the store with “something.”
In this situation, I simply wanted to point out a problem that has been happening as of recent times. There is nothing more frustrating than going to grab a shoe, only to find out that some “friend” of the shop bought a full size run the day before so that he can resell it on eBay.
I am totally fine with a retailer “hooking up” a VIP customer by reserving or holding a pair, but to sell a full size run to one person before the release, in my opinion, demonstrates that you don’t REALLY care that much about your customers.
Again, this is just my opinion and I would like to hear other’s thought about this subject.

I am not mad about getting them - trust me, I would much rather have another pair of DS Spacejams thank this package.
I have nothing against resellers if customers are given the chance to purchase. For years I bought clearance items and resold them, but I didn’t clean out a store to leave a line of people without kicks.
Stores can do as they wish, and they will, the reason I awarded a few stores the Bonehead Award was they let out size runs of kicks that were INDIVIDUALLY NUMBERED.
Keep the comments coming everyone.

I’m for giving EVERY CUSTOMER a chance at his or her size but this gonna keep getting done because that C.R.E.A M. like Wu Tang said CASH RULES EVERYTHING AROUND ME it about the dollar bill Y’all. When that bundle of cash is put in front of them for most of these exclusive releases like the 23’s Before the actual release date they don’t care about the next man when a couple of sellers gonna come put down a wad of paper at once to buy most of the stock in one sale then go and beef up the price like steriods.
