ABOUT NICE KICKS
From humble beginnings, Nice Kicks started in the spring of 2006 in a spare bedroom with one mission: To provide shoe-enthusiasts authoritative, accurate, and credible news, information, and history about sneakers.
Matt Halfhill, founder and publisher, recognized the frustration within the community of relying mostly on message boards and rumors to find credible information. For years, shoe-enthusiasts relied on message boards and forums for information pertaining to sneaker release dates, pricing and availability. However, more often than not, many felt frustrated due to the lack of in-depth and accurate information. In order to address this problem, Nice Kicks was launched to offer readers a daily destination for credible information, sneaker history, and an expert opinion.
Within its first year, NiceKicks.com broke numerous stories about highly anticipated sneakers and gained the attention of highly respected media outlets including The Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, the Associated Press, Complex Magazine, and The Oregonian.
In May of 2007, Nice Kicks became the founding member site of the Complex Media Network, and since then, has established itself as the leader in sneaker information on the web, growing from a few hundred visitors a month, to now reaching over 2.5 million unique visitors a month.
Matt Halfhill, Founder + President + Editor-in-Chief
Fresno, California born and raised with a stop over in Grenada, West Indies then Victoria, BC to finish off high school and begin College. From Athlete’s World part time Sales Associate to Publisher of Nice Kicks, sneakers have always been a huge part of my life. I met my wife talking about sneakers and have been able to make a career out of one of my passions.
Die hard Fresno State Bulldogs fan. Longhorns, Cowboys and Spurs can do no wrong (almost). Californian by birth. Texan by choice. Hook ‘em.
Allison Halfhill – Director of Operations
Little did my mother know that having her second child on February 17th would pre-determine her to a life dedicated to all things sneaker related. Growing up in Vancouver, BC I was surrounded by much of what shapes sneaker culture today – Michael Jordan on tv, hip hop on the radio, skateboarding on the streets and fashion everywhere in between.
The day I met Matt, sneakers became my life’s goal as it was his. 10 years and four kids later we now live in Austin, TX and come to “work” everyday, doing what we love.
