The Reebok Swingman was one of these most popular shoes in the mid-‘90s. The shoe dropped in 1995, featuring a chunky midsole that was not as common in basketball shoes at the time. The original colorway seen here in the Reebok Swingman Retro Preview features black nubuck and contrasting white panels on the upper. Foam around the ankle collar is covered with black leather for a comfort during those sharp cuts on the basketball floor. A large white Reebok vector symbol, which was used regularly at the time, announces Reebok’s presence. The most heralded characteristic of the Reebok Swignman was the customizable “88” on the heel window. Displayed in a digital font, shoe owners could black in their jersey numbers to truly make the shoe their own.
The Reebok Swingman was one of the most used team shoes of the time. Many NBA players, such as Sam Cassell and Mugsy Bogues, rocked the Swingman as well. Look for the retro basketball sneaker to hit retailers in Spring/Summer 2014. What are you thoughts on the return of the Reebok Swingman?
