Footwear Flashback: The Dream Drops 47 in Spalding Signature

Playing with class, excellence, and respect, Hakeem Olajuowon was a role model to many and one of the greatest ambassadors the game has ever seen. While his sneaker line is not the most coveted, it is a testament to a man that heard the cries of others and answered with an affordable alternative. His Spalding signature shoes made all walks of life smile while his play in them made opponents frown. During his 1994-96 NBA championship run, Hakeem had a Kobe-like stint that included a 47 point highlight reel win over the San Antonio Spurs. In remembrance of the man that had a dream, we pay respect to another honorable man known simply as “The Dream”.

Respect the Dream. Can you dig it!?

  • BiggBoy713

Hakeem was the greatest undersized center to ever play the game, MJ will tell you that.Me being from Houston have always felt that the Dream nor the Rockets have never got their due respect. Thanks Nicekicks for showing H-towns’ Great Hakeem “The Dream” Olajuwon some love.

    • …ima 757boy.

      …you will be hard-pressed to find a big-man with better FOOT-WORK than the DREAM…DREAM-SHAKE.

    • DevinThomas

  • chris

No offense, but at 7’0″, Dream was hardly undersized. The footwork was ill, though. The sneaks too…

    • guest

nope he’s listed as 7’0 but in reality he was more like 6’9 ~ 6’10

      • Anonymous

for real? he always seemed bigger than D-Rob, both height and width.

    • BiggBoy713

The Dream was only 6′ 9″  maybe 6′ 10″ at the most that’s a fact. jus like alot of folkz don’t kno that MJ is taller than Sir Charles,he jus played big

  • DugLast

“High Performance. Not High Price.” No surprise The Dream supported a product like this. He’s a class act.

man I’m Spurs fan, and Dream so many times broke my heart when I was kid

  • Aaron Hussain

Nice to see some respect given to the center that played with the most finesse my generation may have ever seen.  His demeanor on and off the court are both admirable.

  • Willijs8

He should thank Jordan for retiring for 2 seasons!!!!
Cuz the Bulls woulda won 8 straight, Tell me Im wrong!!!

    • Godsonjr21

Even as a Knick fan I’d admit you are correct. Needless to say how the Rockets have crushed my heart in the 94-95 finals.

    • BiggBoy713

u wrong in those times the Rocket where one of the very few teams that beat the Bulls on a regular.the Bulls may have won 7 but the Rockets were going to win 1 fo sho. it was simply in tha fates that we beat New York & then experience was on our side against Orlando.
