Nike Mag

“This project is exciting to me because it brings together three very passionate audiences: the Parkinson’s community, the sneakerheads and Back to the Future fans.” – Michael J. Fox.

A few moments ago, Nike officially unveiled the Nike Air Mag AKA “Marty McFly” shoe. As stated earlier, Nike announced that 1500 pairs of this shoe will be auctioned on eBay, nikemag.eBay.com, with all net proceeds going directly to the Michael J. Fox Foundation. The auction will begin tonight at 8:30PM PST and end on September 18 (150 pairs will be posted on eBay per day for 10 days). The Nike Air Mag has been anticipated for the longest as it first showed its face in the 1989 2015 released film Back to the Future.

Leading up to the release of the Nike Air Mag, a 50 million match grant was given to the Michael J. Fox Foundation by Sergey Brin and Anne Wojcicki; they will match all donations to the foundation, up to 50 million dollars, through the end of 2012.

“We wanted to translate the excitement people have for the ‘greatest shoe never made’ and for the Back to the Future into positive action,” said Mark Parker, CEO of Nike. “But the long term objective is to raise awareness so the Foundation can achieve their goal of eradicating Parkinson’s disease.

The Air Mag is the first rechargeable footwear from Nike were designed as an identical replica to the originals seen in the Back to the Future II movie. Some of the constant elements include the upper contours, the glowing LED panel and the electroluminescent Nike logo in the strap. The Nike Air Mag actually illuminates with the pinch of the “ear” of the high top, glowing for five hours per charge.

What are your preliminary thoughts on the Nike Air Mag?

        • so they say.? “all ‘net’ proceeds going directly…”? Net proceeds doesnt mean all. they still need to make back all production costs.

          • Which actually makes them revenue neutral. Lets be realistic here, Nike have done a very good and clever thing here and will end up making the MJF Foundation a lot of money.

I will be winning one of those auctions!

          • The people making them only get a nickel a day so production costs probably isn’t that high. LOL

          • gross means everything.. net means profit.. or moneys acquired after all related cost are covered

          • Net means after everyone has been paid
Gross means everything Bobert1000 LOOKS LIKE YOUR THE DUMBASS, DUMBASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO YOU TRIED TO CHOMP SOMEONE OFF AND YOU WERE WRONG I GOT A IDEA…………………….KILL YOSELF

          • And the rest… first 150 are hovering at about $7,000 after just 12 hours on eBay. Still another 8hrs to go.?

          • “all?proceeds”?means any PROFIT made will go to the charity. The price of producing the shoes will be taken out and any remaining money will be donated. “all NET proceeds” means that ALL the money made, INCLUDING the price of production of the sneakers will go to charity. Nike Is donating all NET proceeds. That means everything. Every cent. That means they are actually LOSING money by doing this…..you idiot.

          • “all proceeds” referred to as “net” is not the same as “gross”. ??

NET proceeds are whatever is left after the GROSS proceeds are made and any fees or deductions for whatever costs incurred are covered. ?In other words, it specifically does not mean ‘that means everything. ?every cent’.

There is a distinct difference between gross profit and net profit.

          • Jesse, I’m not sure where you get your definitions from, but “net” means the remainder, after certain costs are deducted.?
In fact, “all proceeds” means “all money raised” goes to charity. “Net proceeds” means all money raised minus any costs incurred to raise the money (manufacturing and the costs of selling).

          • You’re wrong.? Net proceeds is the total income minus expenses.?Gross proceeds?would include total income before paying expenses.

          • Dude you’ve got to be joking ?now… you honestly just said: “NET proceeds DOESN’T mean all”….
Net means all.. that’s like, the definition of net you dumbass. get off the internet.

        • …just because they are initially launching 1500 pairs on ebay does not mean they will not be releasing them in mass volume at a later date … I can’t see them going to all this trouble to release a completely elite-est product …. its called publicity … and what better then this to get the ball rolling …. ?

          • Are you retarded? There are no power laces coming out in 2015. It’s a?tongue-in-cheek reference to the movie.

          • Uhhh wrong! Didn’t you read the article awhile back that was basically everywhere, including yahoo and msn, that Nike had just patented the technology with the US Patent.
And they said they ARE going to release them 2015 in honor of the movie.
Do your research before you post bro

          • I did read the articles, and between the logistics of the product?actually working on a mass scale, and Blake Bevin’s competing patent (and the litigation that will follow), I think the reason that they’re releasing the Air Mag now is obvious. So, save your money waiting for 2015 bro, just means more for me now…

        • You are WRONG!!!!!!!!!! All the net goes to charity Net means after everyone else has been paid. It even says it in the press release.

          • It doesn’t matter. ?Net or gross. ?Back to my original point, Nike is not getting rich off of these shoes. ?Stop over analyzing it to death.

        • lol it doesnt matter if it all goes to charity. Nike is still gonna make a bunch of money with tax write-offs. at the expense of limited edition shoes that ill never get..

      • I believe tht! come on to those sayin otherwise.. its a nice thought and reason to auction but I dont think that the press conferences, show set-ups, and editorial writers flying to LA last minute is all to put money in JUST the foundations hands.. Not tryin to be a salty a**hole cause I cant camp out for these aand pay MSRP but lots of foundations have these “scandals”.. but on side note got 1500 ready for my pair! ;)

    • wooow , this is awesome ,I just got a $829.99 iPad2 for only $103.37 and my mom got a $1499.99 HDTV for only $251.92, they are both coming with USPS tomorrow. I would be an idiot to ever pay full retail prices at places like Walmart or Bestbuy. I sold a 37″ HDTV to my boss for $600 that I only paid $78.24 for. I use http://fun.ly/wf2z

    • Whether they make money or not. It’s a donation… They’ll write it off in their taxes…. Nike never loses. :-/

    • Pharmaceutical companies dont want to?cure Parkinsons disease. They?can make more money?off?of people dying from it. Disease is a big money maker. They will never find a cure because they dont want one. You people are blind.

  1. It’s for a good cause, but why not mass produce more pair. & why ebay cmon now, resellers… not a good idea but whatever i must get me a pair

      • Nike is just doing what all the people who wait in line do, they finally got smart and figured it out, they see how much money there were losing to people selling on ebay after quickstrikes, you thought they were hard to get then wait until all the new quickstrikes come out, many big companies are doing this now

    • Ain’t gonna be to many resellers. Cuz their gonna sell for a ridiculous price so it’s value is pretty much gonna be what their bought for.

    • If they’re doing what I think they’re doing, these first 1500 pairs will probably be numbered, so they’ll be those ever so?collectible rare numbered sets (which makes more sense to get them to the collectors through ebay than randomly at 1 store) ?then later on they’ll mass produce them for others that want them as shoes or slightly less collectible non numbered sets.?

  2. The all Grey colorway looked smoother but this is dope, if not for the collectible/nostalgic value alone…. And it’s for a good cause…

  3. so do they self lace??, i have disability and the only thing that is stopping me from going to college is tying my shoes :(

  4. You cant resell something sold on ebay. That will be the actual value. They are doing the right thing. Cutting out seedy shop owners, cutting out ebayers, and getting the proceeds to charity. I like it. Thumbs up nike.

  5. You have to be kidding me? I know it’s for a great cause but what about your Loyal Nike consumers NIKE? Forget about who made ya? Offer the shoes to everyone….not just an auction that only the ‘fortunate’ can afford….

  6. Math:

Nike matching up to $50 million.
    1500 Pairs
    __________________________
$33,333/pair if it reaches $50 mil

These going for at least $10 g’s IMO. Pretty sure no one who comments on sneaker blogs got 10 g’s to spare on some ski boots

  7. I AGREE COME ON NIKE RELEASE TO THE PUBLIC . Why not release to the public and use the proceeds for the foundation would make way more money ..in my mind ….

    • “… way more money.” You are a butt-hurt dumb-ass. This is genius on Nike’s part. Auctioning the 1500 shoes will guarantee that they sell at fair market value (let’s say $7000), most of which will go to the M.J. Fox Foundation. If Nike handled the charity the way you suggested (assuming the shoes sold at $300), it would have had to sell and incur the cost of making 51750 shoes (assuming the variable cost of $100 per shoe) just to match the donations from the auction. Furthermore they risk saturating the market, which means less demand. All things aside, I’m sure Nike will have a general release, and thanks to only 1500 shoes being available, there will still be plenty of people willing to sell an arm and a leg for the shoes. That is, “winning.”

    • Rebel you are right. It just said Nike will be selling 1500 pair on ebay, not that they were only selling 1500 pair….

      • I wonder whats the start price going to be on the bids i doubt 0.00, but what ever nike makes the starting price is probably gonna be the retail price when they drop in 2015

      • all you people stating the power laces in2015 are totally missing the tone in which that statment was made.? It’s called sarcasm, see 205 was the year tht doc and marty traveled to. The article writer was paying homage to that fact.? Nike has NO plans for power laces.

        • Not true! Nike has a commercial where tinker hatfield tells Doc Brown when he asked about power laces” nope wait till 2015″

        • AND Nike has already patented the technology through the US Patent. MSN and Yahoo posted an article about it and it was all over NiceKicks a few months ago.
So there ARE plans for a 2015 power lace release.

  8. I got $12,500 burning a hole in my pocket, but I’m willing to go alot higher if necessary….Should be enough to get me in the conversation.. Size 11.5 mens for me please…

  9. this type of shoe cant be a general release yall….it would lose its rareness and wouldnt be looked at the same way prior to its release

  10. The Do Not Have Power Laces. Which makes this the second McFly-themed shoe Nike has produced w/o the power lacing system they patented. Nike is trying to milk it. But honestly, if they could power lace they would probably cost $600+ anyways.

    • Better to sell out to a charity than to a selfminded shortsighted materialistic “general public”

Do you even understand the term sell out? Or how much profit is made when all net proceeds are donated?

      • ok hey this is a sneaker blog site not a fucking save the fucking planet tree hugging hippie loving sun/sky starring at open minded getcha mind right donation center. NICEKICKS NOT SAVE THE FUCKING PLANET

      • oh yeah & i meant sellout as in the RICH PEOPLE ON EBAY ARE GOING TO BUY ALL OF THE 1500 RELEASED PAIRS JACKASS not “sell your soul” sellout. be easy mf

  11. I’m picturing 1,500 very smug Google, Facebook and Apple employees wearing these and eating vegan burritos.

  12. They will not have power laces in 2011 but in 2015 they will. There a sum lost vids. like 90 sec. where tinker is tellin doc why they dont lace in 2011. They goin to come out in 2015 with the power lacing,

  13. That’s the worst decision Nike ever made. Fans are waiting for this moment since the second movie was released.
When i saw this little trailer in the closet, i kept telling “OMG, they make it”. Then, i read this… Heartbreaker.

    • That’s an exaggeration if I ever heard one. Seriously, a huge amount of money going to charity with little to no profit to Nike…and you say it’s the worst decision because you can’t have a pair of shoes?

They’re not shafting their fans in order to make money. Their putting the good of a cause above the desires of their fans (and the profit to be made from it).

Get over yourself. There’s another pair of shoes out there for you. Let these pairs go to a better cause than you.

      • I mean, i’m not against good cause, you know. But they could make so much more for the fundation with a general release.
Put 200 000 pairs in the market for 500$ and see te results.

        • They’re ugly. Purely a collectors item. And people won’t collect a non-collectors item, which is what it would be with that much volume produced. So $500 (slim margins there btw) for a non-collectible made to be collected in this economy?

This overlooks the opportunity that the MJFF could have 5-10m cash in hand by the end of sept. More useful to a charity than potentially more spread out over a year or several.

One in the hand>two in the bush

    • Nobody said you couldn’t have the shoe. If you want it, put your money up and pay for the damn things! Did you actually think the kicks from Back To The Future would retail at your local Footlocker??

  14. If thy were to announce a general release, demands would die down for the charity.

I imagine a general release down the road

  15. they certainly know how to raise funds..making so few pairs wow thats gonna be quite a fight!! those shoes are so hot!

  16. Seriously people. Why are you complaining about their choice to make it limited? They’re not doing it for you, they’re doing it for the foundation. And no, they would not generate as much money for the foundation if they made it a general sale. Making it general sale would increase the overhead significantly, involve markups to profit retailers (if they’re ever going to get the amount of volume needed to achieve the same prices) advertising costs, continuing production costs vs single run costs, inventory management. Countless factors. They will generate far more money for the charity (and immediate money, which is far more useful budgetwise) this way.

Yeah, it sucks that most sneakerheads won’t be able to collect these. But they’re not for them. They’re for the charity. So can we cut out the self pity and the pessimistic complaining about what material possessions we can’t have? Let’s just talk about how rad the shoe is and how cool that it exists and how awesome this will be for the MJF foundation.

    • A broken tenor has a bleeding heart.? Dude, you do realize that Nike makes enough money that they could give that much to charity without this stupid Marty McFly shoe publicity stunt, right?? They could have brought in more money for themselves AND this cause by just mass producing like they always do, and selling the things at a decent price.? Even if you are too slow to realize this, they’re execs aren’t, and you can bet that there are plans to put out a second run (with a few changes to make them less garish as well as let the limited edition 1st run keep their collector value) as soon as they are done auctioning these off for their charity event.

Plus, this is Nike that we are talking about.? Are you really going to praise them for some silly publicity stunt considering how much money they have made on the backs of poor Chinese kids in sweatshops? ?

      • You really don’t understand business do you?

Sure they could afford to donate millions to Parkinson’s. But a straight donation wouldn’t be profitable, and they are after all a business with shareholders to answer to.

Nike is nothing but a conduit here. They’re making their costs back for production and then the net profit goes to the charity. The only thing they gain is the publicity; perhaps that’s the only reason they are in it, but they can have their publicity if it generates millions for the MJFF.

And if you really think a general release would generate more money for the foundation, there’s no helping you.

At the very least, reread the point about the charity getting the money immediately. Far more helpful.

I’m not singing their praises or calling them mother Theresa. I’m saying all the selfish whining and complaining is ridiculous. Celebrate the charity. That’s what’s important here. Not your stupid shoes

        • Oh please, Nike promoted the hell out of this so they can gain good publicity and put it in their tax write-offs.?

          • God people are stupid! As an experienced CPA who prepares corporate tax returns, let me make something very clear for those who act like they know (Damian). If you donate $100 to charity, it lowers your taxable income by $100. So, your tax bill only goes down by $100 x tax rate. Nike will only save (in tax write-offs, which you seem so keen on) 35% of the amount they lose in production costs (donate). i.e. they will still lose 65% of the costs they have in these.?

  17. Im all for a good cause, matter of fact knowing the battle Micheal J. Fox has with Parkinson’s Disease and the on going medical research for cures to this disease and seeing it in person. I do applaud NIKE for using the means of pop culture to translate into medical awareness/research and a charity. However, why involve the entire sneaker community in this, if the possibilty of owning an actual pair is far off for 98% of the fans. I would gladly spend my money and have it sent to a charity, if I had the means to battle it out on Ebay. Now though, I have to contend with celebrities who most likely know of the shoe, remember the movie and will happily drop $5,000+ (because there’s no way their going for less or maybe?…..). Anyways, more power to those who can,. Great cause, but at the very least NIKE, can we the general working public get, like… I don’t know. A 1,000 pairs? 500? Something? I have been fantasizing about this shoe since I saw the movie. Thats a long fantasy NIKE. And now their here, but yet so far??Don’t do me like this!!!!!
    ?
P.S.-To all potential buyers…… wear them, so I can at least see em. Lol.

  18. NIKE ALWAYS PULLS THIS CRAP…THEY MAKE DOPE SHOES FOR THE SUPER RICH PEOPLE… BASTARDS!!! THE HYPERDUNK MCFLYS GO FOR $800 ON EBAY…. LETS SEE I DONT SEE THESE GOING ANY WHERE LOWER THEN $5000….NIKE THE GIVER AND TAKER OF DREAMS!!

    • Pulls what crap? You know how much money these must cost to make? They arent gonna be in footlocker for $99.99 EVER. Money goes to charity anyway…they arent pricing them high just to piss you off.?

      • Try and read my comment again maybe you will start to understand!….If there are no power laces then these did not cost that much to make!…charity is great! price these out at 200 and give the money to charity! not hard!

      • NO OF THEM ARE PRICED HIGH THE BIDDERS ARE RUNNING THE PRICES UP. IN MY KOREAN VOICE YOU DONT LIKE YOU DONT BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • who are these shooes good? anyone who wears these will be a complete faggot – its a grey ug with straps lights and nikey swoosh. This world is going to shit fashion does not come from adults anymore it comes from fags and rappers that look like complete idiots. Also velcro straps are for retards. Fuck all you Buffalo Bill Bono Chaz Bono fag mother fuckres!

  19. bloody awful, would rather eat my own toes than rock those…and now its kinda funny cos none of you’s will ever have a chance of getting them, hahahaha

  20. its pretty obvious these arent the finished product. they dont self lace. theres going to be a mini EP of BTTF to show why. the real ones will be GR in 2015. lets also hope by 2015 they will have found a cure for parkinsons

  21. Nike will do this for charity and raise some funds, but don’t put Nike up on a pedestal like they are Gods for doing this. No business decission goes without the thought of where the financial impact will come for the bottom line of the company.? 90-120 days after the auction there will be a lower grade reproduction at your local reatiler.

    • I somewhat agree. The exposure certainly benefits Nike. I think it might be awhile longer before we see a general release.

Then again, we may never see one. Because really. The shoes are pretty goofy looking. And I’m sure expensive to make. How many people would spend a couple hundred dollars on a shoe that is banking on the novelty factor…unless they’re rare?

  22. I’m not a fan of the sneaker myself, but I give Nike some props for selling for a great cause. However though, why make only 1500 pairs of?these, when they can just donate even more money right out their own pocket? They make more than enough profits, considering the money they charge for all the other shoes they produce. It’s not like they’re going bust anytime soon.

  23. i got a couple million to spare on these in 2015 because i already placed a bet that lebron loses his 5th straight championship that year..my gray’s sports almanac told me so..

  24. Nice! It allows the Charity to make the most profit. There may be resellers but margins would be minimal. Why go through an overpriced reseller when you can bid direct?

  25. why does it have to be a limited release to give smth. to charity? make it a bit wider and say half of the price of every shoe sold will go to charity. that way the fans / us get smth from it and the charity would end up with more money! it would be a win win outcome!

    • Yah dude, call Mark Parker right now.? I’m sure he’ll change the whole auction set up right now for you.? Make sure he cancels Michael J fox’s appearance on Letterman also.? Quit whining and stack some paper.

      • Oh shut up. This publicity stunt reeks of New Coke. Remember when Coca Cola replaced the original forumla in 1985? Everyone was mad and wanted it back. As soon as they put back the original in store shelves, everyone rushed into buying it and Coca-Cola won the Cola Wars.

And they also managed to sneak in HFCS to replace sugar.

      • I’m basically saying that everyone of us will rush to buy these after they decide to do a wide-release. It’s under wraps.

    • Pure speculation. The auction will generate more money due to lower overhead/advertising/distribution/inventory/production costs. And a couple million NOW is far more valuable to a charity than an unknown amount rolling in every month. Charities have budgets to plan around. Your idea has too much uncertainty.

      • disagree. nike website release 20000 pairs (easy sell globally) each pair $750-1000. high enough to generate decent money (20m) and feel of buying smth limited at the same time low enough for sneaker or movie fans to reach into their pockets. do the math, i doubt very much ?this release will come up with more money. anyway, all i was trying to say is that nike could have chosen a way to please both the charity and its most loyal customers. ? ?

        • Not an easy sell. I don’t think there are 20,000 people in the world who would buy a shoe that is not a collectors item/limited release. Especially for $750+, especially in this economy. Don’t forget they’re ugly. There’s not 20k people who would buy these shoes for wearing. They’d be collecting a non-collectors item.

Since it possibly wouldn’t be an easy sell, theres the possibility that they may have to pay for advertising to get the word out. Maybe they’d have to get into standard distribution channels, which is a whole new ball of wax and costs.

Simply too many variables and too much uncertainty. The charity doesn’t benefit as much from *maybe* getting a *potential* 15m (not 20m, nice spin) over the course a year (or two, or three) as they would from getting 7.5m by the end of September.

    • I definitely agree!

Although if I had the several grand it’ll take to score a single pair, it would only be more painful because I couldn’t let myself wear them.

Now if I was rich enough to buy two pair…I’d be the most awesome goofy looking guy around.

  26. Great Tax write off Nike!! Oprah gives away trips, and cars for her Audience nad Nike raises a Billion for the sick people, for releasing a sneaker every “Great -Scott” Sneaker heads wants that was born in the early 80′s!!!? Juss? “Amazing!!!” in my Doc Voice!!….lol…smh!!!

  27. Oh they’re so generous donating to charity, blah blah blah, BS. It’s a marketing stunt that’s going to piss off a lot of their loyal customers. If they really cared about charity, they could donate $10 from every pair sold for a year – that’d net MJFs foundation a ton more than auctioning off 1500 shoes.

    • That’s simply implausible. The auction will clear A LOT more money than something along the lines of your suggestion. More importantly, it generates the money immediately, which is far more useful to a charity that has a budget to operate on.

      Short sighted.

  28. The fact it’s not power laced is probably due to manufacturing costs when all proceeds are being donated… it would be nice to see a mass produced version with a budget to include power lacing, which could still donate a percentage to the foundation.

    • YOUR WRONG DOUCHE, THE POWER LACES ARE NOT OUT BECAUSE IN THE MOVIE BACK TO THE FUTURE 2?IT WAS 2015 WHEN HE PUTH THEM ON, THEREFORE THEY ARE GONNA RELEASE THE REAL POWER LACES IN 2015.

    • ON EBAYS HOMEPAGE ITS THE BIG AS FUCK BANNER ON THE WHOLE PAGE THAT SAYS YOU CANT AFFORD THESE BUT YOU CAN ADD THEM TO YOUR WATCH LIST LOL

  29. Okay, we’ve got the self tying shoes. Check-mark!

Now, um… Where’s my flying car? I believe I was also promised a flying car, hmm?

  30. Damn there going for like 3500 on the auction right now that’s insane i want some but that’s a bit steep I know its for charity but wow will there a production run is be will to pay 500 or600 for a pair and I’m sure others would too but wow 3500 some people must want them bad and got a lil extra pocket change to spend

  31. just a correction, Nike actually donated the 1500 pairs to the Michael J Fox Foundation, and they are the sellers of the shoes in the auction which is hosted by Auction Cause. So to all the previous posts, Nike Does Not make profit off any of the shoes sold in the auction

    • If there is a demand for?these shose, another company will make a similar product and market it towards the general public…… and it will most likely be an improved version of Nikes.? Businesses?will not pass up on the opprotunity to jump on a band-wagon? and make that MONEYYY!!!

      • Congratulations for mentioning the economic concept of competition, but you are just an ass-clown who thinks that they have a firm grasp of the world. That other company will risk getting their asses sued to high heaven by Nike, because Nike most likely holds the rights to the design of this shoe. Even if the shoe is no longer protected by intellectual property laws,?the name Nike is still protected by copyright laws. Also Nike is Nike: Due to the brand recognition, many people will still be willing to pay for authenticity. The wild card is China, but my point still stands; You are a retarded douche monkey.

  32. $3500 to $5000 bidding price…ridiculous…probably made in China for less than $50…and if those people really have a good heart for charity…they just donate the money without?the shoes…?

  33. Theres alot of dumb asses on here, All the proceeds are NOT going to the foundation. All the net proceeds are if any of you have a job you know net means after eveything has been taking out. It even says it in the release press of these shoes. NIKE isnt loosing any money here people!!!!!!! They estimated the production cost at $300.00 per pair. The 50 million match didnt come from NIKE either its from Googles founders. (Sergey Brin and Anne Wojcicki) MJF’s foundation will get alot of money out of this and so will NIKE. These are NOT even the real shoes, they dont come out til 2015 with the power laces. (Just like in the movie it was year 2015) So all you dumb niggers who dont understand gross and net profits go back to school. They WILL NOT HAVE A GS!!!!!! THE REAL ONES COME OUT IN 2015 ANYWAYS!!!!!

    • Love to see whiny bitches who act like they know a thing or two.? I’ve worked with many corporate donations that are similar in nature; here’s a fact, they definitely don’t make money.? Net proceeds, as a CPA in corporate tax, means after costs are taken out…yes, I understand, but what exactly makes you think they are making money by only recovering their costs.? That’s not definition of profit, dumbass.? Also, if it helps you sleep at night, go ahead and continue to assume they are making these in 2015…haha, it’s called sarcasm and only drawing from the movie’s “future date”. I suppose you even think they are going to be made with power laces…hahahahah, lmao.? By the way, since you read the press release, did you not see where it said net proceeds go to charity?? Why then do you say, and I quote, “All the proceeds are NOT going to the foundation”?? God you’re a blithering, mumbling idiot.? Have fun saving for the shoes that will never come in the future, lmao.

    • From?FAQ on?ebay listing, dipshit (since you’ll translate incorrectly I’m certain, this means Nike is getting nothing, they lose all production costs and that’s their donation. Net proceeds refers to the foundation getting bid amount minus any selling and admin costs:

????? The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson?s Research is the seller in this auction. Nike donated the 2011 NIKE MAG shoes to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson?s Research for this auction. Nike will facilitate the shipment and warranty of the 2011 NIKE MAG shoes sold in this auction.

    • BEAVERTOWNOREGONNIKEWORKER is the dumbest freakin’ idiot in the world, lmao!? How can you work at Nike, which I doubt by the way, and not see very clearly in press release and auction FAQ on Ebay that the shoes were donated to Michael J. Fox Foundation…they are seller.? Nike gets nothing.? It’s called a donation, one which saves the corporation only a % of their donated costs in the shoe.? Net proceeds mean proceeds after “certain” costs are taken out.? The foundation gets ALL money minus any selling fees related with the seller Auction Cause.? Nike gets NOTHING, plain and simple.? With your grammar and sentax, by the way, I can’t believe you have a “job”.? At least be professional enough to not make racists comments.? You’re a disgrace to all sneakerheads.

  34. Can anybody post the link of the auction, just for laughs. I?d love to have a pair but not at this insane price!!!! I?d better go on holidays with that money.

  35. BEAVERTOWNOREGONNIKEWORKER, great way to beat everyone up then make a racist comment.? I don’t care what color you are either, that might be your comeback or excuse, there is none.? At least be professional about correcting others.

  36. If there is a demand for?these shose, another company will make a similar product and market it towards the general public…… and it will most likely be an improved version of Nikes.? Businesses?will not pass up on the opprotunity to jump on a band-wagon? and make that MONEYYY!!!

  37. First thought I had about these… When they finally do release a version with power laces, it would suck to be stuck in your shoes when the battery dies and you’re no where near the charger and you want to take your shoes off hah.

  38. Am I the only one pissed that these are going right now for over $4.5k? What the fuck? I mean, I expected them to be expensive, but, like, $500 a pair… This is bullshit, it’s for the super rich only…

  39. Am I really the only person that realises these shoes are god awful? They remind me of those shoes that you used to wear that lit up when u walked when u were a kid.

  40. This is very slick marketing trick for Nike.? Don’t get me wrong, I think it is fantastic that they are giving all proceeds to the foundation that was created by the man who made these famous and help define the 1980′s.? By doing this,?Nike is?able to cover their R&D and production costs as well as see what kind of market there is for this shoe.? How many people are bidding on these shoes?? I’m guessing that these will eventually hit the market and will cost $500-$1000 retail after this campaign and they won’t have any trouble selling these (even in this economy).? Let’s just hope this does help in the battle against Parkinsons.?

  41. The only thing more amusing that watching an excited little kid walk around in shoes that light up will be watching all the squealing 40 year old male virgins doing the exact same thing with these.?

  42. Some of you guys are taking this shoe thing way too seriously. They are just shoes. They don’t cure cancer or AIDS.

  43. I’m thinking I’m not gonna pay 1/2 a years salary for a pair of shoes. ?Don’t let my wife see these shoes.

  44. It’s just shoes with LED lights in them like really?…You should be able to fly with how much these shoes cost!

  45. you call urself sneaker heads and ur arguing over the flow of money? does it matter where the hell the money goes…its leaving YOUR pocket regardless if you decide to buy these kicks…These kicks are too legit and for anyone whos watched back to the future…as soon as u saw em u wanted em…so if u got the moola grab em and help a great cause out…and stopp arguin about the flow of money like it matters to you once this blog is closed up haha

  46. These are horrible for the foot. Great look for the charity though. I hope something good comes out of the research. Key word “hope” since these billion dollar corporations don’t like to give cures they rather sell temporary fixes.

  47. theres a reason y they made this ugly shoe for charity cause no1 will buy and less money to charity its just wrong do the nike hyper dunk collection for this

  48. I prefer old school Nike Air Max Light.?

  49. Really? ?You all wanna talk about Net and Gross? (Anyone that’s recvd a paycheck knows what’s what) It’s all about the money, not about the awareness that it’s making towards the disease, to you? ?People talking about how much NIke is making, is not the point. ?They have costs you aren’t even aware of that go into the making of these limited edition shoes. ?Many Designers, Managers, Press agents and other fees go into this. ?With Sampling & Mould charges, at only 1500 units, they aren’t going to make much if anything, if that’s your concern, which is shouldn’t be. ?They are getting Press, which is above and beyond the value of the shoes, and foremost, they are bringing attention to a Cause, which I hope you can all forget about $ and think of the difficulties these people and their families have that are afflicted with the disease.
