Over the weekend Nike Training held a media summit to showcase upcoming models and directions for the training category. Before putting products to the test, Nike brought us to The Zoo, a recording studio in Oakland, to explain the strategies of Nike Training and how each of the new models represent the mission.
Something that immediately caught my eye was that Nike Training pays tribute to some historic models in the line while improving them and updating them with new technologies. One of these shoes that underwent this transformation was the Nike Zoom Huarache Trainer.
Similar to the spectrum of Force and Flight for Nike Basketball, Nike Training developed their own spectrum anchored on both ends by Strong and Speed. The Huarache Trainer sits slightly to the speed side with responsive Zoom cushioning in the heel. The utilization of Zoom also permits the wearer to sit lower to the ground in the shoes while still protected. The forefoot features a a “Free like” separated sole providing extra flexibility. Across the length of the sole, the Zoom Huarache Trainer features superior traction for the most rigorous of running patterns or movements.
Reducing weight, Nike cut away material on the upper of the Huarache Trainer, but with the signatory mid-foot strap, the shoe keeps you locked in. And of course, what would the Zoom Huarache Trainer be if it didn’t have the 360 degree fit of the Huarache boot.
Nike works with a number of top athletes in the development of their products from the performance stance, but for the colorways of the Zoom Huarache Trainer, Nike Training worked hand in hand with All-Pro Wide Receiver Larry Fitzgerald to tell some great stories.
