Nike Hyperdunk St. John’s PE

Tonight, the St. John’s Red Storm will open their 2010 Big East Tournament schedule at Madison Square Garden. For the event, Nike designed this special Hyperdunk PE.

The legacy of the St. John’s is paid tribute numerous times throughout the shoe, including the “1870″ tag on the underside of the tongue, memorializing the year the university was founded. The patent leather toe and midfoot show a design taken from MSG’s legendary ceiling. The Red Storm’s logo can be found on the tongue, while other school nods appear throughout. The most noticeable design element has to be the red and black gradient that appears along the entire side of the shoe. Whether you’re a St. John’s fan or not, you have to appreciate a shoe that so carefully pays homage to a long-standing hoops program.
