Hasheem Thabeet's Li-Ning Shoe

Li-Ning first splashed into the US market with the BD Dooms on the feet of Baron Davis. The Chinese sports brand, however, has a few other NBA hoopers in their arsenal of athletes. One such athlete, Hasheem Thabeet, has received his own signature shoe from Li-Ning. We are unaware of the shoe’s official name or if it yet has one. As you can see, the shoe is colored to cue up with the jerseys of the Memphis Grizzlies, Thabeet’s team.

The upper seems to be thick with padding and therefore more structurally sound under the duress of power moves from a big man such as Hasheem. There is also an outrigger on the lateral sole to downplay roll and aid in lateral cuts. Cosmetically, there is “TH” logo on the tongue and a “34″ on the heel pull-both personalizing touches for Thabeet. At the moment, there is no word of a US release. Flip by the lead for more photos.

Li-Ning is comin strong with all the new shoes. Only problem is that 95% of their shoes are unavailable for sale in the U.S. and none are available in sizes bigger than a sz 12.5 and they run a half size small! WTF!!!!

Let’s get off the shoes for a second and put this in real world perspective.
I’m just sayin’ … RIGHT NOW, called back up or not, it’s going to be hard on business trying to market and sell a shoe of an athlete drafted at # 2 that went to the D-League when you got kids looking up to and buying the shoes of storied athletes like Lebron, Melo, Durantula, and D-Wade (all drafted in the top 5 and PRODUCED).
I don’t see how that makes sense business wise…design or no design. It’s not just the shoe you’re buying into…you’re buying into the athlete as well. That’s what an ENDORSEMENT is.
I’m not a hater. But, I call it like I see it. And I also like seeing people overcome adversity and hard times. If and when he becomes the athlete you’d expect from a #2 pick, I’ll be the first to congratulate him. Until then, the marketing and sales dept at Li-Ning is gonna have to lay low and let this young man STEP HIS GAME UP.
