Nike Air Pippen Hybrid

Much like Scottie Pippen‘s career, his signature shoes were long overshadowed by his legendary teammate. But for those who paid attention to the Air Pippen line, there were many top-notch signature models. And for this Summer, Nike has combined some of them to create this hybrid, the Nike Max A Lot.

You’ll immediately notice the Nike Air More Uptempo‘s “AIR” large across the side, which for some reason has been done in Rastafarian colors. The midsole “stripe” stems from the Nike Air Pippen II. Again, it’s been done in a Rasta-inspired yellow and green gradient. Black patent leather finishes the upper, while a full length injected Phylon midsole also exposes a visible Air Max unit. The outsole’s grip pattern is also modeled after a number of Flight shoes. This model starts hitting retailers for $88 in multiple colorways in April.

    EVEN IN MY CLASSIC AMERICAN CYNICISM AND EVEN THOUGH I AM SOMEWHAT SKEPTICAL I TEND TO LEAN MORE OFTEN THAN NOT TOWARDS BEING OPTIMISTIC. LOL. WITH THAT BEING SAID, I CAN’T FIND ONE THING ABOUT THESE THAT I LIKE OR SEE POTENTIAL IN. USUALLY WITH SOME UGLY OR ILL DESIGNED KIKCS I CAN SEE THAT TAKING AWAY THIS, OR CHANGING THE COLOR WAY OR CONTOUR OF THAT CAN MAKE A SHOE BETTER. I TRIED THAT WITH THIS SHOE AND AFTER TAKING AWAY THIS AND ALTERING THAT THE SHOE DISAPPEARED. LOL. THIS SHOE IS DISRESPECTFUL ON SO MANY LEVELS AND SHOULD BE TRASHED. AND THEY LOOK FAKE! WHEN I WAS IN ELEMENTARY I HAD A TEACHER WHO HATED THE WAY SNEAKERS LOOKED AT THAT TIME WITH ALL THE STRAPS AND AIR BUBBLES. WHEN HE WASN’T EDUCATING US HE WOULD DRAW THESE RIDICULOUS PICTURES OF WHAT HE THOUGHT SNEAKERS WOULD LOOK LIKE IN THE FUTURE AND THEY WERE USUALLY VERY UGLY…………..THIS LOOKS LIKE ONE OF THOSE SHOES.

    On a serious not please please please just retro the Air Uptempo’s – don’t hybrid them, don’t add foamposite, don’t do a designer’s interpretation of what they would look like in their non-athletic mind. Just mass produce a whole whackload of the originals please so we can all enjoy how they were meant to be.

    How could Nike pay homage to Pippen with this crap? Pippen’s shoes included, the Nike Air Swift, Air Max Uptempo, Air More Uptempo, Air Fight Lite, Air Maestro just to name a few. Any of those shoes individually would murder this crap. You’re tellin me Nike couldn’t combine those shoes and come up with something better than this?!?! You gotta be kidding!

    This kills me. My Air More Uptempo’s were some of my favorite shoes ever. I f’d up the air bubble at the cement slides though. One of the saddest days ever. These suck.
