Reebok The Answer Throwback ThursdayWith the recent news of Allen Iverson returning to the NBA and to Philly, we thought it was only appropriate to shine the spotlight on one of his greatest sneakers – the Reebok Answer.

The question was answered in 1997 when he was crowned the NBA Rookie of the Year after a phenomenal debut season. This shoe, The Answer, would be the start of the longest running signature series in the history of basketball footwear besides the Air Jordan line.

The Reebok Answer was the premier shoe in Reebok’s basketball lineup when it was released in the fall of 1997 featuring the latest 10-pod DMX cushioning. Wearing the shoe was unlike any other experience as the encapsulated air would flow from heel to toe and back as you walked in the shoes. In addition to the DMX tech, the shoes featured a super soft insole with an added shock pad in the heel for even more cushioning.

The Reebok Answer I came was released in a total of 4 colors between the fall of 1997 to the spring of 1998. This pair featured to the right was the debut colorway featuring a Black/White/Gold colorway and was re-released in 2007 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the shoe.     These were gross. They were like tanks on the court. I don’t think Reebok has ever made a decent hoop shoe. The Questions were dope looking but stiff as hell.

    Not all old shoes were dope. I like the back story on the name change though.

    Thought they was kind of bulky for a guard sneak but tried em they was nice Def not the best of the AI’s but a lot betta than what they puttin out f or Ai now.

    Got those in the 7th grade. Still miss them but after a while wearing them they ended up in the trash lol! Would love to have them again but in mint condition.

    no, the jadakiss commercial was the ones right after these(that commercial was so dope). the commercial for these(specifically the white red gold joints) had the famous spin move where he threw the rock behind his back while spinning. i thought i was the dopest ever when i learned how to do that move. i had no idea these retro’d in 07, they need to bring these back asap in all four colors.

    i had the white/red a couple of years back…with tha fit that came out with them…his shoes wuz like $125 back then…can’t wait 2 grab his new JERSEY… they gonna make sum noise next half of the season..HERE COMES THE 1 -2 PUNCH once again….

    I remember going to da mall and looking at these evey time till rhey went on clearance so I grabbed a pair 2 sizes bigger for49 dlrs.I felt good but I got crowned at scoo cause they were too old by then

    Worn mine out on the court and bought the white red ones. Remember the DMX padding that swishes left to right when you move? I think it was the 4′s that got him into the finals. Those were light.

    i remember getting these as hand-me-downs. i had just heard the name “allen iverson” when these were given to me, and from then on, AI was my favorite player. this shoe sparked my love for the NBA and sneakers once MJ was gone.

    I wore mine for years, until all of the air pods had bursted and squeaked like crazy. finally, my mom made me throw them away. i would love to have another pair

    I had these and the red/white ones in 97 these are so hot….Questions in 96 and then these in 97! 2 of the best basketball kicks ever! And they look hot! Reebok put them back out!
