Nike Zoom Kobe V Unveiling

Nike Zoom Kobe V

Today brought about a combination of old meeting new. Live from the age-old LA Forum, the former Lakers arena, Kobe Bryant and Nike unveiled Kobe’s fifth signature Nike sneaker dubbed the Zoom Kobe V.

The Nike Zoom Kobe IV was arguably the best and most innovative basketball sneaker for the 2008-09 season. However, Kobe Bryant, Creator Director Eric Avar and Senior Researcher Matt Nurse joined efforts to produced an even better sneaker performance-wise.

Weighing in at 10.6 ounces, the Nike Zoom Kobe V instantly becomes the lightest Nike basketball shoe ever created. “I wanted to push the envelope with a shoe that meets the demands of my style of play,” Bryant said. “The Kobe V is lighter, lower and more stable. Nike has done it again.”

This shoe definitely goes in the opposite direction of any basketball sneaker to date. It draws most of its inspiration from the soccer field. Some of its distinctive features include phylon midsole and a low profile for responsive cushioning, herringbone traction, glass fiber for extreme arch support and a flywire design composed of TPU skin that is half the weight and makeup of the original flywire design. Pertaining to its performance attributes, Kobe stated that when wearing this sneaker, one “does not lose seconds.” Click here to see detailed shots of the Nike Zoom Kobe V unveiling.

  • KB24

real nice. The more pics I see of these the better they get

  • pablood92

whats the difference besides the sole. can somebody point it out to me? please and thank you.

  • pablood92

sorry for the last comment. DOPE!

  • RETRO5S

heyyy! these look better than the pictures we’ve been getting! i gotta cop the white/yellow/purple cw.

  • R E E

that shoe just LOOKS like it performs well.

    oh well…LEBRON VII…you had a nice run for a few months…
…but, THE MAMBA IS BACK, BABY!

  • RETRO5S

oh and that purple…reflective…whatever that is. by the toebox and eyelets looks SICK!

  • kidswag24

    i word LOL !

  • porschetaylor.com

I want to like it. I really do. But alas…

  • kara

    same thing uglier

  • Haloh

Looks like the kobe IV with a cheap body kit. But Shows Kobe is more focused on the performance and weight of the shoe and not aesthetics of it. I applaud him for that. Lebron VII are ill but heavy as fk.

  • DJmaR

lebron is also 260+ pounds i dont think he would want a light low cut shoe….

  • RJEEZY

when is he going 2 wear these 4 the first time in a game?

  • Duvo

veil these back up for the sake of our eyes…hideous

  • Duvo

    double post my bad

anyways LMAO @ you Kobe stans forcing yourselves to like these lol. Im just as big a Kobe fan as anyone, but I wouldn’t touch these with a 10ft pole…unless i got em free

  • nict

these arent bad..but im waiting for the carpe diem version. That will be copped

  • Marwan

Guys, Kobe wanted higher performance than the looks. These weigh 10 ounces. Way lighter than the IV’s.

I will cop these shose probably 2 colors but different colors than these.

  • ThaWindy

Yeah these are some running shoes.

Once again top corp exc. won’t let desginers push forward because they might out sell there endorsement mates. Keep everything on an even plane.

This is 2009 about to be 2010, you mean to tell me this is what we thought the shoe of the furture would look like?

    Come on stop playing games!

  • NorthwestClassic

I am NOT a Laker fan but I think these look super sleek. It’s a different look than most basketball shoes; it’s more like a soccer shoe. Besides, I bet they perform incredibly, they’re an ounce lighter than the IVs. I can’t wait til he actually balls in them.

  • dds010

I think these look horrible. They are a step back from the IV’s. Big ups to Nike to making such a light shoe though, but i think that they may have seemed to forget that most people who will purchase this shoe will wear them casually the majority of the time, and in that department this shoe really really sucks

  • dds010

oh yea i know lebron weighs more but can we please get a constant sig shoe that weighs less than 13.5 oz Nike?

  • th3 gho5t

…Im Tryin….wait for it…. Nahhh, I still aint feelin the design. IV’s Set the bar pretty high in my book, first shoe i ever copped multis. Maybe next time

  • Jedi Knight

They look just like the last ones! It seems like yesterday i was walking into the store to get the original jordan v’s ! They just design shoes like they used to !

  • Retrosaurus Rex82

you know the feeling you get when you miss a cartain pair of jordans you know youll never get again for retail price but you are willing to do to get them some way or another and it pains you to see someone rocking them—————–I NEVER GET THIS FEELING FROM ANY OF KOBES KIX ANDYOU GOTTA BE A DIE HARD LAKERS FAN TO EVEN WANT THESE; THE ONLY ONE I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT WERE THOSE CHAOS 4′S-THE JOKERS; HIS SHOE DESIGNER SUCKS. THE ONLY GOOD SHOE NIKE HAS MADE THIS YEAR ARE THOSE 1/2 CENTS, THE GRIFFEYS, THE FOAMPOSITES, THE LEBRON VIIS, AND THE HYPERMAX’S EVERYTHING ELSE COULD USE SOME WORK

  • Retrosaurus Rex82

AND DONT GET ME WRONG I AM A KOBE FAN AND HE IS THE ONLY PERSON WHO KEPT ME WATCHING BASKETBALL SINCE MJ RETIRED BUT HIS SHOES SUCK——THEY COUOLD CROP EVERY COLORWAY POSSIBLE AND I WOULDNT WANT THESE——-THSE SHOES WHEN I SEE THEM GIVE ME THE SAME FEELING I GET WHEN I SEE THE AIR JORDAN 2010

  • 24lebron24

the sole purpose of basketball shoes is performance…striaght up. kobe is focused on his performace so he can get number 5. i think kobe’s shoes r very innovative and technologically fit. plus i think they look dope. so big ups 2 kobe and the nike zoom kobe staff designers

  • Soulonice2891

Performance wise I would cop a pair. A pair of BASKETBALL SHOES that weigh only 10.5 oz could help all those dudes who can’t full on dunk but only get “rim burners” elevate a touch more. Style wise their nothing new, just an updated version of last years model.

  • 90snikehead

Big lebron fan but some of hes sneakers were ugly but these kobes come on man if didnt say kobe on them who whould buy them they wack low sneakers come on man i admit some jordans ugly some lebrons these are horrible

  • Airchuck

Same shoe……same shoe. Kobe just wear jordans…LOL

  • dopasaurus

they’re growing on me a bit…i like lowtop ball kicks, so these might be a cop, if they’re as good as the IVs.

  • http://www.yahoo.com flythentherestorthem

    no Kobe……

  • kickzfanatik09

    Ehhh,Nothing to Spectacular about these….

  • realNBA

To all those retards, weight ain’t everything for the shoes… come on man that look like some kind of 50bucks training shoes honestly.

  • champ22

is there a video online of this?

  • DatNew1

Kobe needs to look into my .com I have for him and pay me some money for it and create something out of it– IT’s better than these shoes lol. Another color way like a Michigan blue or ME Laker wit
that light blue might work for these.

  • Soles over hoes

Do these perform better than Kobe iv?

  • kopi

My ASICS gel running shoes are better than these!! UGLY!

  • iluvroastbeef

kobe never could really sell shoes…still, I think overall, his adidas shoes are more appealing then his nikes and were probably the best looking adidas bball shoes period…

from adidas: the elevation eqt, kb8, the kobe 1

the zoom kobe 4′s are nice looking, but they don’t seem too safe for your avg street baller…these 5′s seriously do look nike just added a new body kit on the 4′s

  • greenmaker24

    these are ok

  • angel

hoho, the shoes look great,http://www.smsneakers.com have this kind of shoes.

  • tmax224

whoever doesnt like this shoe is a hater. i like kobe so i bang with the shoe plus i have most of the kobes…but even if you dont like the shoe, its the lightest basketball shoe created. youd be shorting your performance by not hoopin in these!

  • Omega-RED

rather rock thoz kobe special edition that they have in asia…

  • KevDizzle420

when these kicks come out yall?

  • Chris

@ KevDizzle They come out on the 16th of January.

  • Loveskateshoes_FW

I don’t know why people want to cop this thing badly, just because they were lighter, thinner, and weird-er ?…
    Man, this is not special…
    It’s so crap…

  • funkyo3

this is very simple shoe.i like it, if you dont know how to play basketball then your not gonna like it for sure…if you do then you can tell its really good

  • packy power

    i like this UNO………….!

  • kyle23

i like it,but i wish the price is affordable na exceding 110 bucks

  • CHINOWILLIE

i just bought me a pair and they are dope, can’t wait to get in the court and fly!!!!! with these babies
For all those Laker haters – Go Kobe!!!!!!! nice shoes….

  • Marko

I don’t know what’s the problem about these shoes..just because they are different and they look better than LeBron’s that doesn’t mean they suck!!

  • idanieliao

the same feelings about the Nike Kobe V

  • spermo

you can purchase that in manila for only 500 pesos, $10 in different colorways! Look for Star Mall! Niyahahahaha

  • needshoes
