The L.A. Times recently gathered a few sneakerheads to weigh in on their “Holy Grail” sneakers. And by a few sneakerheads, we mean UNDFTD’s Eddie Cruz, Holy Grail’s Liz Sanchez and Richard Torres, Ben Baller, Flight Club’s Bobby Araujo and our own founder and editor-in-chief Matt Halfhill. It’s fair to say the sources are reputable.

Each weighs in on their “holy grail” sneaker, meaning the one sneaker they have to have, or may already have. The article is a very interesting look at the way we view our passion–why we love sneakers, how we choose our favorites and so on. Click here to check out the full article.

    Coraline Dunks, definitely wish I could have copped those and those NIKE AF-1 X CLOT Chinese New Year Joints, the all red with the black laces, man hold up. I dont even like all red shoes like that normally but the detail on those joints was crazy. Oh and one more, the Kaws Air Max 90′s, those joints are ferocious IMO.

    Very nice piece. Matt’s response to the “old sole” question, “what is your holy grail?” was

    Oh yea, my Holy Grails are:

    AJKO (Bred colorway)
    Nike Air Pressure
    Adidas SuperStar 2 Pro Model (for customization only)
    AM1 OG and Atmos

    I wouldn’t call them grails now, because I’ve found ‘em, but the list is as follows:

    -Neon 95′s
    -Spiridons
    -AM 97′s

    Beyond that, there are other things I pick up, but wouldn’t consider them to be Holy Grails.

    Air Jordan XI “Cool Grey” and “White/Columbia”…I was mad pissed when I didn’t get these!

    my joints were the OG jordan 3′s black and cement.. i dropped about 8 bills on a brand new pair (at least never worn, the dude kept em in plastic) from the 99 retro, same with the jordan IV, ($750, never worn, no yellowing on either) and then i copped each CDP with those joints twice, one for wear and another pair to stacc up in my closet.. does anyone else notice how pointless collecting shoes is haha

    My “Holy Grail” kix are the black/infrared AJ6′s. I had a deadstock pair at my crib and I got robbed. Luckily I had them all on display and they only stole the left shoe…lol.. so now I have a few perfect right shoes in my collection. Makes my closet look like footlocker… Word to the wise ya’ll keep your collection status to urself. There are a lot of HATERZ out there!

    My Grails would have to be The White & Red Cherry OG Nike Air Jordan 12′s (1997) Joints Those were the first pair of Jordans I bought with my own money now that I think about it nobody has ever bought me Jordans but Myself! My Mom did not believe in Buying Gym shoes that cost 100 bucks!!
