What if Nike did one of the craziest things to a basketball shoe in terms of tech, design, and performance? That might sound like a part of their business plan, but coming with something totally original doesn’t always translate into a hit.

The Nike Air Flight Huarache was the product of the mastermind of Tinker Hatfield inspired by a Mayan sandal but with comfort and cushioning like none other. Keeping the Nike principle at heart, the shoe was stripped of excess and unneeded materials to produce something lightweight as well.

The Air Flight Huarache wasn’t exactly the hottest seller right out of the gate when it debuted in ’92, but everything in history was rewritten once a group of five young punks from Michigan took the court and college hoops by storm.

The Huarache has continued to inspire many basketball shoes and the snug fit is seen season after season, but it all originated with the OG.     Man when these came out……Put this way chris webber, jalen rose, juwan howard, jimmy king and what dudes name??? They changed the way basketball was played bald heads baggy shorts all freshman and went to back to back championship true they lost and Webber caused one of the loses and none of them had HOF careers in the NBA but they brought swag to the college game. and for about 3 years Webber was argueably a MVP with the KINGS!! And the Lakers did cheat a game to win their second ring lol yeah I said it what!!!

    These kicks were retroed within the last 5 years. Are ya’ll 8th graders or something?The original colorway shown here was slightly modified to white/blue/silver. Don’t you remember Kobe Bryant rocking the Spurs colorway in practice back in 2004? He had special PEs for games.

    I had these back in 92… and to this day they still hold the title for having the best traction of any bball shoe i ever played in. These joints were monsters back in the day.

    Jemayne I think Matt of all dudes is fully aware of the 2004 retro, but the bottom line is that no one can get a pair today – just do an search on eBay and you’ll know what i mean. Those kicks came and went and were worn out by people. These didn’t sit in closets to be resold online.

    These are one of those shoes that are great but shouldn’t be retroed. these belong in the 90s, not to many people wear stuff like this, no sense in retoing a classic if they’re going to go on sale a while after.
