Throwback Thursday: Nike Air Force V

Nike Air Force VNike has a number of great sneakers in their archive that have not yet returned. One of these greats is the Nike Air Force V. Released in 1990, the Nike Air Force V was the flagship model of the Nike Force line and was unfortunately one of the last of the numbered series. Though this is not the first time that the Nike Air Force V has been featured on Throwback Thursday, this is the first time that the high top version has been showcased.

While Barkley took care of representing the Air Force V Low, David Robinson did his part with the Air Force V High. The Admiral wore the Air Force V the year following his Rookie of the Year and All-Star season. Like with his rookie year, Robinson made it to the All-Star Team and put up an incredible 25.6 points and 13.0 boards per game.

Put the Hall of Famers aside, the Air Force V stands out for a number of reasons. The ultra high top cut is a favorite for vintage heads as well as the rubber mesh netting that covers the tongue and on the heel. The big Force logo is stamped on the tongue incase anyone thinks this shoe wasn’t made for a big man and the toe box features micro perforations.

Sadly, Nike has not brought this one back, but as with any sneaker we feature on Throwback Thursday, your comments can do nothing but help bring back this legend. Click here to leave your two cents as well as check out more photos, original advertising material, and a 30 second spot featuring David Robinson.

had these 10 years ago – as far as i can remember it was one of the best pair i had, comfortable, strong and a really nice design… would be great to see those out again!!!!

I love these shoes, the best I had in all my live, it could be possible because my parents brought me from USA, because in Spain it was impossible. Now I cannot use NIKE, because they make only for thick feet, not for centers.
    Please, do it again!!!
